Who we are:
We are a start-up based out of Bengaluru & Delhi NCR. We are engaged in development of next generation missions and technologies (NGM&T;) towards future warfare needs of the Indian defence forces. It is undertaking research towards enhancing persistence and autonomy for unmanned vehicles and robotic swarms. NRT’s product development portfolio includes a solar power stratospheric high altitude pseudo satellite (HAPS) unmanned platform and an air/ground launched stand-off autonomous system.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Design UAV airframes using analytical formulations and engineering principles.
- Analyze, validate, and update structural designs using commercial CAE tools.
- Develop and implement plans to meet airframe design objectives.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, project managers, and external vendors to execute airframe development activities.
- Prepare technical documentation for internal records and design reviews.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to fulfill airframe-subsystem requirements.
- Develop, standardize, and improve processes for all airframe design activities.
- Conduct root cause analysis for structural failures and propose corrective measures.
Must-Have Skills:
- Structural Mechanics: Strength of materials, aircraft structures, composites, vibrations, structural dynamics, aeroelasticity, rigid body dynamics, fatigue, and damage tolerance.
- UAV Airframe Design:
Conceptual design of fixed-wing UAVs, mass estimation, development of primary and secondary airframe members, and first-order structural analysis.
- CAE & FEA: Propose and execute linear, nonlinear, transient, vibration, and fatigue analyses to validate structural behavior.
- Optimization: Multi-disciplinary systems and structural member optimization using computational methods.
- Materials & Manufacturing: Design process for composite and metallic structures, including part concepts, quality metrics, drafting (GD&T;), manufacturing, structural testing, and iterative design feedback.
- Design Planning: Plan design activities and proofs of concept to meet part and mechanism functionalities through multi-stage processes.
- Engineering Practices: Engineering change management (PDM), FMEA, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
- Teamwork & Leadership: Review design documents, mentor junior engineers, and delegate tasks while contributing individually.
- Tools & Software: MATLAB (advanced), Fortran/Python/C++, SolidWorks, CATIA, ANSYS.
- Additional Requirements: Experience in end-to-end structural design, aero-modelling, and hands-on hardware projects in mechanical systems.
Basic Requirement (education & relevant experience):
-
Bachelors or Masters in Aerospace/Aeronautical/Mechanical engineering and minimum 5-8 years of experience.
