Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in modern Node.js technologies, cloud-native architectures, event-driven systems, and API development. Experience in healthcare technology or FHIR- based interoperability is an added advantage.You will work closely with product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to build enterprise-grade applications that are scalable, resilient, and maintainable.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop scalable backend services using TypeScript, Node.js (v20+), and NestJS.
- Build and maintain RESTful and WebSocket APIs for high-performance applications.
- Develop microservices and event-driven architectures using Kafka and AWS services.
- Design and optimize relational and NoSQL databases.
- Build secure authentication and authorization solutions using OAuth2/OIDC.
- Implement caching, messaging, and asynchronous processing using Redis and Kafka.
- Develop cloud-native applications leveraging AWS serverless technologies.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
- Create comprehensive unit and integration tests using Jest.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure automation.
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture decisions.
- Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve system reliability and performance.

Required Technical Skills

- Backend Technologies - Robust proficiency in TypeScript, Hands-on experience with Node.js 20+, Experience with NestJS and Express.js
- Databases - Strong experience with PostgreSQL, Experience with ORM/query builder frameworks such as: Kysely, Prisma,



Experience working with MongoDB, Experience with Redis for caching and performance optimization
- Messaging & Integration - Experience with Apache Kafka, Strong understanding of: REST APIs, WebSocket APIs, Event-driven integrations
- Cloud & Infrastructure (AWS) - Hands-on experience with: AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, Amazon SES, API Gateway, Amazon EventBridge, CloudFormation
- Security - Experience implementing: OAuth2 authentication flows, OpenID Connect (OIDC) Identity providers such as: Keycloak, Amazon Cognito
- Development Tools - Jest for testing, Docker, Git and version control workflows

Good to Have Skills

- Experience with Fastify
- Healthcare domain experience
- Knowledge of FHIR standards and Medblocks
- Experience with email templating frameworks such as: MJML, Handlebars
- Experience with push notification services: Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), Apple Push Notification Service (APNs)
- Experience with: Turborepo, PNPM Monorepos, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Multi-tenant SaaS architecture, Event-driven architecture patterns, Outbox pattern

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional backend development experience.
- Strong understanding of: Distributed systems, Microservice architectures, Cloud-native application development
- Experience building secure, scalable, and highly available systems.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
