Podcast · Bengaluru
The Ken is a subscription-driven publication doing deeply reported business, tech, and startup journalism. We turn those stories into some of India’s most ambitious podcasts: Daybreak, Two by Two, Zero Shot, First Principles, and Intermission, our long-form video show. We’re looking for an Audio Production Intern to help raise the bar on how these shows sound.

The Role
The Audio Production Intern will work directly with The Ken’s Technical Producer and podcast hosts, spending most of your time editing and mixing episodes to a consistent, broadcast-ready standard. This involves:
- Working across shows to clean up recordings (noise, clicks, EQ, room tone) and applying our templates for loudness, dynamics, and pacing.
- Keep the studio running: track and check mics, mixer, headphones, and backups. Maintain a tech inventory.
- Support remote recordings: level checks, monitoring connections, basic troubleshooting for external guests.
As you grow, you’ll move into sound design for animations and infographics that appear in Intermission. You’ll also assist the Technical Producer with live sound for The Ken’s events (PA setup, gain staging, basic live mixing).
Who You Are
Required:
You’ve edited at least one multitrack project. You will work from The Ken’s Bengaluru studio.
- You notice details others miss: mouth clicks, uneven levels, awkward edits, room noise.
- You have hands-on experience with at least one DAW (Pro Tools, Reaper, Audition, Logic) and are comfortable with multitrack sessions.
- You’re organised: you name tracks, keep sessions tidy, and don’t lose files.
- You’re communicative in person and on Slack. You take feedback well and iterate quick. You deliver on time.
- You’re curious about business and tech, even if you’re no expert yet.
Nice to Have
Prior work editing podcasts, films, reels, or music; sound for motion graphics or title cards; familiarity with Izotope RX for noise reduction and dialogue correction; any live-sound experience.
Details
The internship will last for 3–6 months. You’ll mainly work out of our Bengaluru studio, with occasional remote setups. Interns receive a stipend based on commitment and experience.
