Job Summary

The EEG/EMG Technician is responsible for performing electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG), nerve conduction studies (NCS) assistance, and other neurodiagnostic procedures as directed by the neurologist. The technician ensures accurate test performance, patient safety, equipment maintenance, and proper documentation while maintaining high standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare patients and explain EEG, EMG, and NCS procedures.

· Perform routine, sleep, portable, and emergency EEG recordings.

· Assist the neurologist during EMG and Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS).

· Apply electrodes accurately and ensure high-quality signal acquisition.

· Monitor patients throughout procedures and recognize any adverse events.

· Maintain accurate patient records and test documentation.

· Ensure proper calibration, cleaning, and preventive maintenance of EEG/EMG equipment.

· Follow infection prevention and control practices.

· Report equipment malfunctions promptly.

· Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with hospital policies.

· Coordinate with neurologists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.

· Participate in quality assurance and continuing education activities.

Qualification

· B.Sc. in Neurophysiology Technology, B.Sc. in Neurodiagnostic Technology, B.Sc. in Medical Technology (Neuro Technology), or an equivalent recognized qualification.





· Diploma in EEG/EMG Technology or Neurodiagnostic Technology from a recognized institution.

Preferred

· Certification or specialized training in EEG/EMG/Neurodiagnostic procedures.

· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is desirable.

Experience

· Minimum 1–2 years of experience performing EEG procedures and assisting in EMG/Nerve Conduction Studies in a recognized hospital or neurodiagnostic laboratory.

· Experience in handling adult and pediatric patients is preferred.

· Familiarity with digital EEG/EMG systems and neurodiagnostic software is desirable.

Registration

· Registration with the State Allied and Healthcare Professionals Council or other applicable statutory authority where required under local regulations.

· Candidates should possess all registrations or licenses mandated by the applicable State or National regulatory authority before appointment.

Required Skills

· Competency in EEG recording techniques.

· Knowledge of EMG and NCS assistance.

· Understanding of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology.

· Ability to identify and troubleshoot recording artifacts.

· Valuable communication and patient-handling skills.

· Accurate documentation and reporting.

· Equipment handling and maintenance.

· Teamwork and attention to detail.

Working Conditions

Rotational shifts, including emergency or on-call duties if required.

Pay: ₹11,383.53 - ₹30,438.63 per month
