Key Responsibilities

- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations meet guidelines set by regulatory authorities (e.g., Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) or the Nuclear Regulatory Commission). [1, 2, 3]
- Personnel Monitoring: Administer occupational dosimetry programs, issue and collect personnel monitoring badges (TLDs), and maintain exposure records. [1, 2, 3]
- Safety & Surveys: Conduct routine radiation surveys, area monitoring, and equipment leak tests. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Staff Training: Provide necessary radiation safety training and guidance for all personnel handling radioactive sources or imaging equipment. [1, 2]
- Incident Response: Manage emergency preparedness plans, report accidental exposure or lost materials, and recommend corrective actions. [1, 2]
- Documentation:



Keep meticulous records regarding the receipt, storage, transfer, and disposal of radioactive waste. [1]

Qualifications & Education

- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Health Physics, Medical Physics, Radiological Sciences, or a closely related scientific field. [1]
- Certification: Official certification or authorization from the relevant governing body (such as passing assessments from the RP&AD;, BARC in India, or the NRC) is universally mandatory. [1, 2]
