Database Administrator, Bangalore
Seeking an experienced Database Administrator with expertise in Oracle and/or Cassandra, responsible for production support, performance tuning, and end-to-end database lifecycle management in a dynamic environment.
This is the role and main tasks
Candidate is expected to be familiar with database architecture, logical and physical design, automation, documentation, installs, shell scripting, PL/SQL programming, backup & recovery concepts, and database performance and tuning. Candidate must have good analytical, verbal, and written skills.
• Provide full lifecycle support for client databases, including Oracle 19c environments utilizing RAC and non-RAC architectures for OLTP and data warehouse systems, with Active Data Guard for disaster recovery across on-premises and cloud platforms.
• Administer Oracle and/or Cassandra databases across production and non-production environments
• Implement and manage high availability solutions (e.g., clustering, replication)
• Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and system monitoring




• Manage backup and recovery strategies using tools like RMAN and Cassandra backup utilities
• Support database deployments, schema changes, and release activities
• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks and incidents
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance standards are met
• Responsible for database backups, design, development, testing, and performance tuning.
• Will work with developers to design and build current structures to support application enhancements and promote database changes throughout the Dev, UAT and Prod databases
• Responsible for quarterly patch applications (PSU) and periodic database upgrades with minimal downtime in database environment
• Required to participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and be available to perform periodic after-hours support
• Proactively think toward automation of repeated tasks
• Takes ownership of highly complex/Priority customer issues reported
