Job Description (JD) – Consultant Surgical Oncologist

Position: Consultant Surgical Oncologist
Department: Surgical Oncology
Employment Type: Full-Time

Qualification

- MBBS
- MS / DNB in General Surgery
- MCh / DrNB in Surgical Oncology (Mandatory)

Experience

- 2+ years

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose, evaluate, and manage patients with benign and malignant tumors.
- Perform complex oncological surgeries following evidence-based clinical protocols.
- Conduct pre-operative assessment and obtain informed consent.
- Provide comprehensive post-operative care and long-term follow-up.
- Perform diagnostic and staging procedures, including biopsies and lymph node dissections.
- Collaborate with Medical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Radiologists, Pathologists, and other specialists to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings and cancer management discussions.
- Manage surgical emergencies and complications related to oncology patients.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with hospital protocols.
- Educate patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and recovery.
- Participate in clinical audits, research activities, CME programs, and quality improvement initiatives.




- Ensure adherence to NABH/JCI standards, infection control practices, and patient safety guidelines. Surgical oncologists are central members of multidisciplinary cancer care teams and commonly perform biopsies, cancer staging procedures, tumor resections, and post-operative management.

Salary

- Negotiable (Based on qualification, experience, and interview performance)

Working Schedule

- As per hospital policy (OPD, IPD, OT, and On-Call Duties)
- 6 Days Working (Rotational, if applicable)

- Head of Department (Surgical Oncology) / Medical Director
