Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Engineer who will be responsible for designing new products, improving existing designs, and providing technical support to manufacturing and other cross-functional departments. The ideal candidate should have strong design skills, knowledge of manufacturing processes, and the ability to deliver cost-effective engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop new products according to customer specifications and company standards.
- Modify and improve existing product designs to enhance quality, functionality, and performance.
- Prepare accurate 2D and 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide technical support and coordination with production, process, quality, purchase, and service departments.
- Release engineering drawings and technical documents on time and ensure only the latest approved revisions are available on the shop floor.
- Review and update drawings through Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) whenever required.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction through design optimization, value engineering, and material selection without compromising quality or safety.
- Conduct technical analysis, root cause analysis, and design validation to improve product reliability and performance.
- Coordinate with customers and internal teams to understand technical requirements and implement design changes.
- Participate in prototype development, product testing, and validation activities.
- Support new product development (NPD) projects from concept to production.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering standards, and quality requirements.
- Maintain proper records of drawings, design revisions, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and technical documents.
- Work closely with the production team to resolve manufacturing-related design issues.
- Continuously suggest innovative ideas for product improvement and process optimization.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years of experience in product design and development in a manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or similar CAD software.
- Good knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T;, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with BOM preparation and revision control.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in plastic product, mould, or rotational moulding design will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of value engineering and cost reduction techniques.
- Understanding of ISO quality systems and documentation.
- Exposure to product development, tooling design, and manufacturing processes.
