A Duty Medical Officer is responsible for providing immediate medical care to patients during assigned shifts, including assessment, diagnosis, and initial management of medical and surgical emergencies. The role involves monitoring admitted patients, responding to emergency calls, coordinating with consultants and nursing staff, and ensuring accurate documentation of patient care. DMOs also perform basic procedures, order and interpret investigations, and ensure continuity of care while maintaining hospital protocols and patient safety standards.
