Job Description – R&D; Executive (Cosmetic Manufacturing)

Position: R&D; Executive – Cosmetic Formulation
Department: Research & Development
Industry: Cosmetic / Personal Care Manufacturing
Location: Mohali/Chandigarh
Experience: 3–7 years (as required)

Key Responsibilities:

1. New Product Development

- Develop formulations for skincare, haircare, body care, and personal care products (creams, lotions, serums, shampoos, facewash, sunscreen, etc.).
- Conduct ingredient research and create innovative, cost-effective formulations.
- Prepare laboratory samples/prototypes for internal evaluation and client approval.
- Modify or improve existing formulations based on feedback.

2. Raw Material & Ingredient Management

- Evaluate new raw materials and maintain ingredient specifications.
- Work with suppliers to source new and sustainable cosmetic ingredients.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory guidelines.

3. Stability & Compatibility Testing

- Conduct stability, pH, viscosity, microbial, and performance testing.
- Maintain detailed testing records and prepare technical reports.
- Identify and resolve formulation issues (separation, texture, fragrance, etc.).

4. Manufacturing Support

- Scale up lab batches to pilot and production batches.
- Provide technical support during bulk manufacturing.
- Ensure batch reproducibility and quality consistency.

Documentation & Compliance

- Prepare PIF, COA, MSDS, TDS, and product specification sheets.
- Maintain R&D; logs, trial reports, SOPs, and formula records.
- Ensure all formulations comply with BIS, FDA, GMP, and regulatory norms.

6. Cross-Functional Coordination

- Work closely with QC, QA, Production, Packaging & Procurement teams.
- Assist in cost optimization for recent and existing products.
- Support marketing with product claims and technical content.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Knowledge of cosmetic chemistry, surfactants, emollients, emulsifiers, actives, and preservatives.
- Hands-on experience with formulation equipment (homogenizer, mixer, pH meter, viscometer).
- Strong understanding of GMP and cosmetic regulations.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with timelines.

Qualification

- B.Sc / M.Sc in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Biotechnology, or related field.
- Diploma in Cosmetic Formulation (preferred but not mandatory).

Salary

As per company norms / based on experience

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
