THE ROLE

Teach Biology and Chemistry across grades 7 to 10, working towards Cambridge IGCSE, in a Montessori environment. This is not conventional lecture-and-test teaching: lessons begin with material, observation and experiment, and students arrive at concepts through their own work.

ELIGIBILITY

- A graduate degree in science (B.Sc. or higher) with Biology and Chemistry as subjects of study. Mandatory.
- B.Ed. or equivalent preferred.
- Fluent English, the medium of instruction.
- Two or more years of middle or secondary science teaching preferred. Strong freshers with genuine interest in Montessori practice will be considered.
- Familiarity with IGCSE Biology (0610) and Chemistry (0620) is an advantage; Cambridge training will be given.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Plan and teach Biology and Chemistry for grades 7 to 10, mapped to the Cambridge syllabus and assessment objectives.
- Conduct practical work safely — microscopy, dissection alternatives, titrations, tests for gases and ions, qualitative analysis.
- Give short, precise presentations, then allow long uninterrupted work periods, collaboration and independent investigation.




- Observe individual students, maintain records of their work and adjust the work accordingly.
- Prepare and maintain the science environment so materials and equipment are accessible to students.
- Assess through practical, project and written work; maintain mark sheets and progress records.
- Take charge of the laboratory: stock, chemical inventory, storage, disposal, safety equipment, and timely procurement requests.
- Attend staff meetings, in-house training and parent-teacher meetings; participate in school events and examination duties.
