Job Summary

The Senior Electrician is responsible for the installation, operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all electrical systems and equipment in the hospital. The role ensures uninterrupted power supply to critical patient care areas such as ICU, OT, Emergency, and wards while maintaining compliance with electrical safety standards and hospital regulations.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of all hospital electrical systems.
- Maintain HT/LT panels, transformers, switchboards, MCCs, UPS systems, DG sets, batteries, and electrical distribution systems.
- Ensure uninterrupted power supply to critical areas such as ICU, OT, Cath Lab, Emergency, and Laboratories.
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, lighting systems, power sockets, and control panels.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and restore services with minimum downtime.
- Conduct routine inspections of electrical equipment and record maintenance activities.
- Test and monitor DG sets, UPS systems, emergency lighting, and Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS).
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, statutory regulations, and hospital quality requirements.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors during major repairs and electrical projects.
- Supervise and guide junior electricians and maintenance staff.
- Maintain inventory of electrical spare parts and recommend procurement when required.




- Attend emergency electrical breakdowns during on-call duty.
- Follow hospital safety procedures, infection control practices, and PPE requirements while working in patient care areas.

Qualifications

- ITI in Electrician Trade (Mandatory)
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Preferred)
- Valid Electrical Wireman/B Licence (Preferred, as applicable)

Experience

- 5–8 years of experience in electrical maintenance.
- Minimum 2 years of hospital experience preferred.
- Experience in maintenance of HT/LT systems, DG sets, UPS, transformers, and hospital electrical infrastructure.

Required Skills

- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Knowledge of electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Knowledge of HT/LT distribution systems.
- Familiarity with DG sets, UPS, ATS, and emergency power systems.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergencies.
- Knowledge of electrical safety practices and statutory compliance.
