Your impact
Job Summary
The Design Manager is assigned to a project as a key member of the design team, he is responsible for the proper and timely execution within his discipline of the design and requisitioning in accordance with the control estimate and specific requirements of the project. He is also responsible for ensuring that the Group’s technical policies, are followed, considering any special contractual requirements. Ensure the timely completion of design and engineering deliverables. Manage the activity as assigned by Group Lead / DM.
Lead the design and engineering of HVAC systems across all assigned projects. Ensure effective interdisciplinary coordination and actively participate in client meetings.
Maintain comprehensive project documentation including meeting notes, hold lists, comment logs, and assumption lists.
Foster strong client relationships and ensure the use of Jacobs’ project management tools and systems. Ensure all HVAC designs meet client requirements, applicable building codes, and energy efficiency standards.
Review and validate complete HVAC design packages, including heat load calculations, area classification, pressure zoning, AHU zoning, and HVAC Room Book summaries. Evaluate reheating capacities and conduct technical assessments for equipment selection such as chillers, cooling towers, AHUs, pumps, dehumidifiers, and ventilation systems, to ensure optimal performance and cost-effective solutions.
Documentation & Specification Development: Review and verify BMS logic diagrams, P&ID;, and AF&ID; sheets. Prepare tender documents, bills of quantities (BOQ),
technical specifications, approved make lists, and general terms and conditions in accordance with local regulations, building codes, and energy efficiency standards.
Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise; serves as an expert within own function and discipline.
Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices.
Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions; identifies applications of functional knowledge and existing methodologies to complex problems.
Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
Leads functional teams or projects and serves as a best practice/quality resource.
Progression to this level is typically restricted based on business requirement.
Collaborate with stakeholders and manage timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
Conduct design reviews and value engineering assessments. Recommend improvements to existing systems for enhanced performance and efficiency.
Stay updated with the latest HVAC technologies and sustainability practices. Integrate smart building solutions and energy modelling into designs.
Demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
Prepare audit documentation.

Provide feedback and coaching to junior team members
Supports internal learning and development / knowledge sharing in area of expertise within Jacobs.
Supervise and mentor junior HVAC engineers and designers. Facilitate training and development programs.

Here's what you'll need
Qualification- B.Tech in Mechanical (Full Time)
Experience- 18+ years of experience
Strong experience on design of pharmaceutical / Life Science /Biotech facility / Speciality Chemical in terms of HVAC design.
Sound knowledge of pharmaceutical / Life Science /Biotech facility architectural layout and process sequence.
Selection of HVAC Equipment / Items.
Sound experience of Hazardous Area Classification.
Design and selection of LAFs, fume hoods, and biosafety cabinets.
