Receptionist – Overseas Education Consulting Company (Chennai Branch)
Job Title: Receptionist
Location: Chennai
Department: Administration / Student Services
Reporting To: Branch Manager
Job Summary
The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for students, parents, universities, and visitors. The role involves managing front-office operations, handling inquiries, scheduling appointments, maintaining records, and supporting the counseling and admissions team to ensure smooth branch operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesFront Office Management
- Welcome and assist students, parents, and visitors professionally.
- Manage reception desk activities and maintain a positive office environment.
- Handle incoming calls, emails, and walk-in inquiries.
- Direct inquiries to the appropriate counselor or department.
Student Support & Coordination
- Schedule appointments for education counselors.
- Maintain student inquiry and appointment records.
- Follow up with prospective students regarding counseling sessions, document submissions, and events.
- Assist students with basic information regarding study abroad programs and application processes.
Administrative Support
- Maintain databases, student files, and office records.
- Prepare and organize documents required for admissions and visa processing.
- Coordinate courier services and document dispatch.
- Manage office supplies and inventory.
Communication & Marketing Support
- Support webinar, seminar, and education fair registrations.
- Assist in sending promotional emails, WhatsApp messages, and event invitations.
- Update inquiry records in CRM or student management systems.
Financial & Reporting Support
- Record student fee payments and issue receipts as required.
- Maintain daily visitor and inquiry reports.
- Prepare basic administrative reports for management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in any discipline.
- 1–3 years of experience in reception, customer service, administration, or educational consultancy.
- Freshers with excellent communication skills may also apply.
Skills Required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Tamil.
- Pleasant personality and professional appearance.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Good knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in overseas education consultancy, educational institutions, training centers, or customer-facing roles.
- Familiarity with student admissions processes and CRM software will be an added advantage.
Working Hours
- Full-time position.
- Monday to Saturday.
- Flexibility to support occasional weekend education fairs, webinars, and student events.
Salary
- As per company standards and experience.

- Number of student inquiries handled.
- Appointment scheduling and follow-up effectiveness.
- Accuracy of student records and documentation.
- Visitor satisfaction and front-office management.
- Support provided for admissions and event coordination.
