Job Title: Mold Flow Engineer (Material Science & DFM)

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Mold Flow Engineer with strong knowledge
of Material Science, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Injection
Molding processes.

The candidate will be responsible for performing mold flow simulations,
evaluating product manufacturability, supporting material selection, and
providing technical feasibility inputs during RFQ stages. The role requires
close coordination with tool design, production, quality, and sales teams to
ensure successful product development and tooling validation.

Key Responsibilities

* Perform Mold Flow Analysis (Fill, Pack, Warp, Cooling studies)
* Provide DFM feedback on plastic components
* Support material selection and polymer performance evaluation
* Analyze customer RFQs and prepare technical feasibility reports
* Work with cross-functional teams for tooling and process
optimization
* Identify risks and recommend corrective actions before tool
manufacturing

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Polymer
Engineering / Plastics Technology / Material Science
* 3–8 years of experience in Mold Flow and Injection Molding
* Hands-on experience in Autodesk Moldflow / Moldex3D
* Good understanding of engineering polymers and material behavior
* Knowledge of tooling concepts and GD&T; preferred

Mold Flow / Simulation Software (Mandatory)

These are core tools for the role:

Autodesk Moldflow Insight / Adviser

* Fill, Pack, Warp, Cooling analysis
* Fiber orientation
* Shrinkage prediction
* DOE studies

Moldex3D

* Advanced 3D flow simulation
* Conformal cooling validation
* Multi-material & insert molding analysis

(Optional but Valuable) Sigmasoft

* Full-cycle simulation including mold & thermal balance

At least one advanced simulation tool must be strong (Moldflow or
Moldex3D).

CAD Software (For DFM & Geometry Review)

Candidate should not just simulate — they must interpret geometry.

Preferred CAD Exposure:

* SolidWorks
* Siemens NX
* CATIA
* Creo

Must be able to:

* Check draft angles
* Modify gate locations
* Evaluate ribs/boss thickness
* Review parting line feasibility

Basic modeling/editing capability is expected.

Because your JD requires diversified material science knowledge:

* Moldflow Material Database handling
* UL Yellow Card reference knowledge
* Material datasheet interpretation (Rheology curves, PVT data)
* Basic rheology understanding
* Fiber orientation analysis

Knowledge of:

* PA6 / PA66 GF
* PBT
* PC/ABS
* PPS
* High-performance polymers

_____Injection Molding Process Tools (Practical Knowledge)

Not software — but process tools knowledge:

* Scientific Molding concepts
* Decoupled molding
* Gate freeze study understanding
* Cooling time estimation
* Clamp tonnage calculation

RFQ & Commercial Support Tools

For feasibility & costing support

* Excel (Advanced – Cost estimation sheets)
* Tool complexity estimation
* Basic ERP exposure (SAP preferred)
* Cycle time estimation sheets

GD&T; & Quality Tools (Preferred)

* Basic GD&T; interpretation
* MSA / PPAP understanding
* Warpage measurement correlation
