1. Academic Responsibilities

- Plan and conduct undergraduate teaching for MBBS students.
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, seminars, and integrated teaching sessions.
- Conduct bedside clinical teaching in Psychiatry.
- Organize problem-based learning (PBL), case discussions, and small-group teaching.
- Train students in:
- Psychiatric history taking
- Mental status examination
- Communication skills
- Management of common psychiatric disorders
- Participate in the Foundation Course and AETCOM (Attitude, Ethics and Communication) modules.
- Prepare lesson plans and maintain teaching records.

2. Clinical Responsibilities

- Supervise Psychiatry OPD and inpatient services.
- Diagnose and manage psychiatric illnesses.
- Conduct psychiatric consultations for other departments.
- Participate in emergency psychiatric care.
- Supervise interns during Psychiatry postings.
- Ensure rational prescription practices and patient safety.
- Maintain clinical records according to institutional standards.

3. Assessment and Examination

- Prepare question papers for internal assessments.
- Conduct formative and summative assessments.
- Evaluate answer scripts and practical examinations.
- Serve as an internal examiner for MBBS examinations.
- Assess clinical competencies and logbooks.

4. Administrative Responsibilities

- Assist the Head of Department in departmental administration.
- Prepare duty rosters for faculty and residents (if any).
- Organize departmental meetings.
- Maintain departmental records and statistics.
- Plan annual academic activities.
- Coordinate with hospital administration.

5. Curriculum Development

- Update teaching materials according to the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum.
- Develop learning objectives and competency checklists.
- Prepare study guides and student manuals.
- Introduce cutting-edge teaching methods and digital learning resources.

6. Research Responsibilities

Even in a UG-only college:

- Conduct clinical and educational research.
- Publish research papers in indexed journals.




- Encourage undergraduate student research.
- Present papers at conferences.
- Apply for research grants where feasible.

7. Faculty Development

- Participate in Faculty Development Programs (FDPs).
- Attend CME programs, workshops, and conferences.
- Mentor junior faculty members.
- Update knowledge according to current psychiatric guidelines.

8. Regulatory and Quality Assurance

- Ensure compliance with NMC norms.
- Maintain departmental documentation for inspections.
- Assist during university and NMC inspections.
- Maintain faculty attendance and departmental records.
- Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and teaching aids.

9. Community Psychiatry

- Participate in mental health awareness programs.
- Conduct school and community mental health camps.
- Participate in outreach programs.
- Coordinate with district mental health services when required.

10. Student Mentorship

- Mentor MBBS students.
- Provide academic counseling.
- Identify students with stress or mental health concerns.
- Guide students regarding professionalism and ethics.

11. Committee Responsibilities

May serve as a member of:

- Medical Education Unit (MEU)
- Curriculum Committee
- Ethics Committee
- Anti-Ragging Committee
- Student Welfare Committee
- Infection Control Committee
- Hospital Quality Committee
- Research Committee
- Internal Complaints Committee (if nominated)

12. Hospital Coordination

- Work closely with departments of Medicine, Neurology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Surgery, and Emergency Medicine.
- Participate in multidisciplinary patient care meetings.
- Provide consultation-liaison psychiatry services.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Completion of scheduled teaching sessions.
- Student feedback and academic performance.
- Clinical workload (OPD/IPD consultations).
- Research publications and presentations.
- Participation in CME/FDP activities.
- Compliance with NMC and university requirements.
- Departmental documentation and inspection readiness.
- Community outreach activities.

Pay: From ₹170,000.00 per month

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Adur Kla, Kerala
