Job Title: Staff Nurse
Department: OT, CCU, Labour Room
Reports to: In-charge
Job Summary:
The Operation Theatre Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. The role involves assisting surgeons, maintaining sterile conditions, ensuring patient safety, and supporting the surgical team to ensure smooth operations in the theatre.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pre-Operative Duties:
- Prepare the operating theatre with necessary instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies.
- Verify patient identity, surgical site, and consent forms.
- Assist in positioning the patient for surgery.
- Conduct pre-operative checks (vital signs, allergies, and medical history).
2. Intra-Operative Duties:
- Assist the surgeon during operations by passing instruments and supplies.
- Maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques.
- Monitor patient’s vital signs and condition throughout the procedure.
- Count surgical instruments, swabs, and needles before and after surgery.
- Operate and monitor surgical equipment as needed.
3. Post-Operative Duties:
- Assist in transferring patients to the recovery room or ward.
- Monitor patient condition post-surgery and provide immediate care if needed.
- Document procedures,
nursing interventions, and patient status.
4. General Duties:
- Adhere to infection control protocols and hospital policies.
- Ensure proper disposal of surgical waste and contaminated materials.
- Participate in staff training, drills, and continuous education.
- Maintain OT inventory and request supplies as necessary.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (GNM/B.Sc Nursing).
- Valid nursing registration (as per country/state regulations).
- Prior experience in an Operation Theatre or surgical unit preferred.(1-5 years)
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and sterilization techniques.
- Ability to remain calm and work effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment:
- Based in the hospital’s Operation Theatre Department.
- Shift-based work, including weekends and public holidays, depending on surgery schedules.
- Exposure to surgical equipment, body fluids, and infection risks (PPE provided).

Pay: From ₹22,000.00 per month
