Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and innovative Laser Automation Machine Designer to design and develop high-precision automated laser systems used in industrial applications such as marking or engraving This role requires a solid understanding of mechanical design laser optics automation technologies motion systems and safety standards The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams including R D electrical software and manufacturing departments to deliver custom machine solutions from concept to commissioning Responsibilities Design Engineering Design custom laser-based automated machines using 3D CAD tools e g SolidWorks AutoCAD Collaborate with electrical and controls engineers to integrate PLCs HMIs and servo systems Define motion sequences coordinate laser triggering and ensure synchronization with robotics or conveyors Integrate vision systems for part alignment inspection or closed-loop control Create proof-of-concept models functional prototypes and conduct performance tests Troubleshoot mechanical and optical alignment issues during machine build and commissioning Optimize machine parameters for speed precision and reliability Generate detailed mechanical drawings BOMs and design documentation Ensure designs comply with industry safety standards e g ANSI Z136 CE OSHA Support creation of user manuals installation guides and maintenance procedures Assist in project planning costing and time estimation Provide technical support to assembly and service teams during machine build and customer support Engage in continuous improvement efforts and stay updated on the latest laser and automation technologies Develop and validate mechanical systems integrating lasers optics motion control and automation components Select appropriate laser sources e g fiber CO UV based on material and application Incorporate safety features including Class 1 enclosures interlocks and fume extraction systems Qualifications Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering Mechatronics Automation Engineering or related field Technical Skills Proficiency in 3D CAD software SolidWorks Autodesk Inventor or equivalent Understanding of laser systems fiber CO Nd YAG and optical components lenses mirrors galvos Knowledge of automation components linear actuators stepper servo motors sensors Familiarity with PLC and motion control integration e g Siemens Rockwell Mitsubishi Experience in designing for manufacturability tolerancing GD T and assembly Understanding of laser safety standards and machine safety protocols e g interlocks e-stop systems Preferred Certifications Certified SolidWorks Professional CSWP or similar CAD certification PLC Programming Certifications e g Siemens TIA Portal Rockwell Studio 5000 Soft Skills Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities Good communication skills for collaboration and documentation Ability to manage time and prioritize multiple design projects Willingness to work hands-on during prototyping testing and commissioning Job Location Onsite factory facility-based Occasional travel may be required for installation and customer support Job Type Full-Time Permanent Master s degree preferred but not required for advanced R D roles Job Type Full time Pay 420 000 00 - 600 000 00 per year Benefits Cell phone reimbursement Health insurance Provident Fund Ability to commute relocate Ambattur Chennai Tamil Nadu Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work Required Education Bachelor s Required Experience AutoCAD 3 years Required Language English Preferred License Certification Driving Licence Required Location Ambattur Chennai Tamil Nadu Required Willingness to travel 75 Required Work Location In person
