Head of Manufacturing Engineering Reporting To Plant Head Role Accountability The Head of Manufacturing Engineering is accountable for ensuring that manufacturing processes are defined validated controlled and continuously improved in accordance with customer requirements The role ensures manufacturing readiness process capability and product conformity across development qualification and serial production supporting the organization s transition to Tier-1 supplier status Responsibility Governance - Establish and maintain a controlled manufacturing engineering system that complies with AS9100 and customer requirements like Airbus Supplier Quality Requirements and Boeing Requirements - Ensure manufacturing engineering processes are documented approved deployed and audited - Define roles responsibilities and competence requirements for manufacturing engineering personnel Process Control - Ensure all manufacturing processes are formally defined validated and under configuration control - Ensure process parameters key characteristics and acceptance criteria are clearly identified and controlled - Maintain process specifications work instructions and standard practices in compliance with customer requirements Industrialization - Lead Manufacturing Readiness Level MRL assessments and ensure readiness at each program phase - Ensure manufacturing processes demonstrate repeatability robustness and scalability prior to rate production - Ensure First Article Inspection and qualification builds are planned executed and approved - Verify that risks identified during industrialization are formally mitigated and tracked to closure Risk Management Process Capability - Ensure PFMEA Control Plans and Process Flow Diagrams are developed maintained and actively used - Ensure critical processes demonstrate statistical process control SPC and required Cp Cpk levels - Lead root cause analysis and corrective action using structured problem-solving methodologies Customer Interface Audit Readiness - Act as the authorized manufacturing engineering focal point for Airbus Boeing and Tier-1 customers - Lead preparation execution and follow-up of OEM Tier-1 and regulatory audits - Ensure timely and effective closure of audit findings and customer action requests - Support customer source selection and capability assessments with objective evidence Special Processes Compliance - Ensure all special processes are identified qualified and controlled in accordance with NADCAP and customer requirements - Ensure personnel qualification equipment calibration and environmental controls are maintained - Ensure traceability of materials processes and records in line with customer and regulatory requirements Tooling Equipment Infrastructure - Ensure tooling and equipment are designed qualified and maintained to ensure product conformity - Ensure equipment qualification is performed and documented prior to production release - Ensure infrastructure supports current and future rate requirements - Continuous Improvement Performance Monitoring - Establish manufacturing engineering KPIs aligned with Airbus and Boeing expectations including yield scrap cycle time and process capability - Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on data trend analysis and customer feedback - Ensure lessons learned are captured and deployed across programs Qualification Education - Bachelor s or Master s degree in Aerospace Mechanical Materials or Manufacturing Engineering Experience - Minimum 12- 15 years of aerospace composite manufacturing engineering experience - Proven leadership experience in regulated aerospace manufacturing environments - Demonstrated experience supporting Airbus and or Boeing production programs Technical and Leadership Competence - Demonstrated expertise in composite materials curing processes tooling and inspection - Strong working knowledge of AS9100 NADCAP Airbus and Boeing manufacturing requirements - Experience with process validation configuration control and change management - Demonstrated ability to lead teams in compliance-driven environments - Ability to communicate objectively using facts data and documented evidence - - Robust decision-making capability aligned with customer and regulatory requirements KPI s Effectiveness measurement - Audit outcomes and finding closure performance - Process capability and stability metrics - Manufacturing readiness and rate performance - First-pass yield and non-conformance reduction - Customer satisfaction and performance ratings
