Job Title OT Technician Department Operating Theatre Reports To OT In Charge Location Chennai Branch Purasawalkam Job Summary Preparing and maintaining the operating theatre and equipment assisting surgeons and anesthetists during operations and ensuring the sterile environment required for surgical procedures Key Responsibility Pre operative Setup 1 Prepare and maintain the operation theater and surgical equipment before during Maintain sterility by following infection control protocols 2 Arrange and stock consumables surgical instrument sets drapes gowns gloves implants etc check expiry dates and ensure supplies are available 3 Assist in positioning patients on the OT table operative lights according to the surgeon s instructions and ensuring patient safety during transfers 4 Ensure central supply of oxygen and nitrous oxide central suction available and are in working condition 5 Maintain Boyle s apparatus to check oxygen and nitrogen cylinders central supply line flow meters cylinder key urine bags masks corrugated tubes soda lime connectors Intra operative During Surgery 1 Assist surgical and anesthetic teams by handling instruments and supplies and anticipating their needs and to keep drugs for IV infusions and blood transfusions and also to have knowledge to face any emergency situation 2 Monitor and operate OT equipment e g suction machine cautery C arm endoscopy systems anesthesia monitors OT light laparoscopic machine harmonic scalpel as required or under supervision 3 Ensure correct handling of surgical specimens labelling packaging dispatch Post operative Clean up 1 Ensure a safe healthy and sterile working environment in compliance with protocols 2 Manage hazardous medical waste and ensure proper disposal 3 Maintain accurate records instrument consumable usage sterilization registers surgery logs equipment maintenance logs 4 Maintain inventory of surgical instruments and supplies and restock as necessary General Duties 1 Comply with hospital policies safety protocols fire electrical biomedical waste infection control and accreditation standards e g National Accreditation Board for Hospitals Healthcare Providers - NABH 2 Participate in training refresher programs on OT operations sterile practices equipment usage 3 Work effectively in shifts including nights weekends on call as required in hospital operations 4 Ensure the anesthetic machine is ready with the following ET tube jelly airways spray plasters eye ointment injections syringes and intravenous infusion materials 5 Ensure the I V bottles I V line and syringes loaded with medications are labeled properly with date and time Qualification Diploma courses in Operation Theatre Technology or B Sc in Operation Theatre Technology Knowledge in BLS is Mandatory Experience 1 Overall 5 years Hands-on experience assisting surgeons during surgeries and handling OT equipment including surgical tools 2 Relevant 2- 3 Years of Experience in preparing and maintaining the operation theatre for surgeries procedures 3 Freshers are also welcome 4 Age 23 -
