1 Job Summary The Scrub Nurse assists obstetricians and gynecologists during surgical procedures by preparing the sterile field handling instruments ensuring aseptic techniques and supporting the surgical team during maternity and gynecological surgeries 2 Key ResponsibilitiesA Pre-Operative Responsibilities Review the surgery list and prepare required instruments and supplies Check sterility indicators autoclaved packs and surgical trays Arrange the sterile field as per the type of surgery LSCS D C Hysteroscopy Laparoscopy etc Assist in patient positioning and ensure safety measures Ensure availability of emergency instruments and neonatal resuscitation items Maintain infection control and aseptic preparation of the OT B Intra-Operative Responsibilities Assist the surgeon directly by passing instruments and sutures Anticipate surgeon s needs during the surgery Maintain strict sterile techniques throughout the procedure Perform accurate instrument sponge and needle counts before during and after surgery Handle specialized maternity OT equipment such as suction cautery neonatal warmer CTG if needed Support in handling emergency cases like fetal distress PPH and emergency LSCS C Post-Operative Responsibilities Ensure proper disposal and segregation of biomedical waste Clean decontaminate and send instruments for sterilization Document swab instrument counts and complete OT notes Assist in transferring patient to recovery area safely Prepare OT for the next case 3 Documentation Compliance Maintain swab count register implant register OT logbooks and checklists Adhere to hospital SOPs NABH protocols and infection control guidelines Ensure proper stock management of instruments sutures and consumables 4 Skills Competencies Required Strong knowledge of obstetric and gynecology surgeries Excellent sterile technique and infection control skills Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and manage critical situations Valuable communication and teamwork abilities Ability to handle emergency maternity cases confidently 5 Qualification Experience GNM B Sc Nursing with valid Nursing Council Registration Minimum 1-3 years of experience as a Scrub Nurse Maternity Gyne OT preferred Freshers with strong OT training may be considered 6 Work Environment Rotational shifts including emergency on-call duties Coordination with consultants anesthetists OT technicians and nursing team Job Types Full-time Permanent Pay 24 000 00 - 35 000 00 per month Benefits Health insurance Paid sick time Paid time off Provident Fund Work Location In person
