: WordPress Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled WordPress Technician to manage the migration, maintenance, and support of WordPress websites. The technician will play a key role in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of client websites hosted on a standardized VPS stack.

This role involves routine updates, monitoring, troubleshooting, and proactive problem management, aligned with enterprise-grade service delivery standards.

Key Responsibilities

Website Migration & Setup

- Perform lift-and-shift migrations of WordPress sites to VPS hosting.
- Configure domains, SSL certificates, DNS records, and SMTP settings.
- Set up staging environments and run validation checks pre- and post-migration.

Maintenance & Security

- Apply monthly updates to WordPress core, plugins, and themes with rollback safeguards.
- Monitor security vulnerabilities and apply critical patches within defined windows.
- Carry out quarterly restore drills to validate backup integrity.

Monitoring & Incident Response

- Configure and manage uptime monitoring tools.
- Respond to alerts and troubleshoot incidents to restore service availability.
- Escalate issues to senior engineers or vendors when required.

Backup & Restore

- Manage scheduled file and database backups, including MySQL Point-in-Time Restore (PITR).
- Execute and document restore processes during incidents or scheduled tests.

Reporting & Documentation





- Generate monthly performance, uptime, incident, and vulnerability reports.
- Maintain clear runbooks for staging, rollback, and cutover procedures.

Problem & Change Management

- Identify recurring issues, weak points, and propose preventive measures.
- Support change requests including enhancements, bug fixes, and performance improvements.
- Participate in scheduled maintenance windows and emergency response efforts.

Requirements

Technical Skills

- Strong knowledge of WordPress administration, plugins, and themes.
- Proficiency in PHP (8.1+), MySQL/MariaDB, and familiarity with cPanel/Plesk/WHM.
- Experience with VPS hosting environments and DNS/SSL configuration.
- Knowledge of backup/restore processes, staging environments, and rollback strategies.
- Understanding of security best practices for WordPress hardening.

Experience

- 24 years of experience in WordPress maintenance, migration, or technical support.
- Hands-on experience with incident/problem/change management processes.
- Exposure to uptime monitoring tools and backup systems.

Soft Skills

- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to document processes and generate reports.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with internal IT teams and clients.
- Proactive mindset for identifying risks and suggesting preventive measures.
