Summary As a Lead Engineer - Control Protection at GE Vernova Grid Solutions you will play a crucial role in designing implementing and optimizing protection relay systems for EHV HV substations considering the safety quality Cost time delivery criteria Your expertise will ensure the reliability and efficiency of power systems supporting our global operations across various regions This role involves in leading the secondary engineering activities Control Protection Substation Automation Systems Interface Engineering Telecom Requirements LV Auxiliary Systems for EHV HV Electrical Substations AIS GIS HVDC FACTS STATCOM Onshore Offshore Renewable etc The candidate shall execute with association of workgroups where applicable in order to meet assigned objectives In this role the candidate will work within defined parameters to draw conclusions apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning The candidate will work with GSI Global Engineering Center GSI GEC to coordinate with the GSI Regions Business Lines as per Project requirement Roles and Responsibilities The role demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals programs and processes for an area or business segment In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems develop and execute objectives for self and others and have the ability to effect short-term and long-term business goals Provide technical leadership and interface with GSI Regions GE Vernova Business Lines to estimate the optimized manhour cost for the engineering activities other required activities for the execution of the project Tender Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers Document and communicate results of technical data generated Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives Share engineering information and promote open dialogue Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures Perform the study on Electrical Power systems and load flow and short circuit studies etc Design and prepare scheme drawings as per project requirement in anyone of E-CAD Tool Ex Engineering Base software E-Plan AutoCAD Electrical equivalent for up to 400 765kV Substations Design review the Substation automation system based on IEC61850-8-1 Station Bus IEC 61850-9-2 Process Bus - Database Preparation in the automation RTU software Review consolidate the IO Mapping with respect to the scheme drawings troubleshoot of database issues in SAS system RTU based system Review BOQ and Architecture drawings of PLCC FOTE engineering and need to interface between CRP SAS with Telecom Equipment Review equipment drawings of major Substation Equipment for AIS GIS like Circuit breakers Isolators Earth switches CSD PDM Transformers Reactors associated Conditional Monitoring Devices etc Perform CT and VT and its sizing calculations Able to work with different make IEDs Numerical protection relays and BCUs Perform review the protection relay application setting calculations and coordination including tripping analysis Design Review the control Power cable engineering in substations Design the LV LT auxiliary systems for Electrical Substations and interface with the SAS SCADA Required Qualifications Skills Bachelor s or master s degree in electrical engineering 8 years of experience in substation protection relay systems within EHV Electrical Substations Oil Gas or Power Transmission industries Experience in EPC Engineering Procurement Construction environments with multidisciplinary teams Experience of Secondary CRP SAS Aux Systems Telecom Interface engineering up to 765kV 400kV 220KV and HVDC Substations AIS GIS SOLAR WIND Experience Knowledge on Relay Testing Equipment Testing Control Protection scheme testing SAS Commissioning experience min 1 year shall be given additional weightage Desired Characteristics Strong oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal responsive and supervision skills Demonstrated ability to evaluate and resolve problems Demonstrated ability to manage programs projects Ability to document plan market and execute programs Established project management skills Fluent in English additional language any foreign Language is a plus Willingness to travel internationally as required Proven technical supervision skills in a complex system engineering development setting Proactively serves on cross functional management teams self-directed decision-making Pulls in experts when needed Key Competences Technical Expertise In-depth understanding of substation protection systems relay technologies relay tripping philosophies substation automation systems Interface Engineering LV Auxiliary Systems Telecom Panels Project Management Ability to manage multiple projects prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Communication Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective customer and team interactions Responsive and interpersonal skills Strong supervision guiding and team coordination abilities to guide and mentor junior engineers Problem-Solving Proficient in identifying issues and implementing effective solutions Quality Focus Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and compliance Additional Information Relocation Assistance Provided Yes
