Operations Manager / Operations Director

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, highly organized, and results-driven Operations Manager / Operations Director to oversee the day-to-day operations of our growing accounting and business advisory practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial operations, compliance, client service delivery, internal processes, staff coordination, and business administration while ensuring operational excellence across multiple entities.

This is a leadership role requiring exceptional organizational, financial, and people management skills.



Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations

Monitor daily cash balances across multiple bank accounts.

Oversee bookkeeping functions for multiple clients and entities.

Review accounts payable and manage supplier payments.

Manage accounts receivable and client invoicing.

Supervise payroll processing and salary administration.

Prepare bonus calculations and staff compensation reviews.

Review financial reports and management accounts.

Accounting & Compliance

Oversee VAT/GST, TDS, corporation tax, and tax return submissions.

Coordinate annual audits and statutory accounts preparation.

Manage audit queries and liaise with external auditors.

Submit statutory filings with Companies House/MCA and other regulatory bodies.

Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Client Management

Manage client onboarding processes including AML, KYC, and Letters of Engagement.

Maintain strong relationships with clients.

Coordinate delivery of accounting, tax, payroll, and advisory services.





Ensure timely completion of client work and statutory deadlines.

Practice Management

Improve operational processes and internal workflows.

Manage practice management software and business systems.

Oversee professional indemnity insurance and risk management.

Monitor software subscriptions and operational costs.

Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Team Leadership

Lead and supervise bookkeeping, payroll, tax, and administration teams.

Allocate work and monitor staff productivity.

Conduct performance reviews and coaching sessions.

Recruit, train, and develop new team members.

Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Compliance & Risk

Handle ongoing legal matters with external advisors.

Manage regulatory compliance including SRA and professional body requirements.

Ensure AML compliance across the business.

Monitor internal controls and risk management procedures.

Business Operations

Coordinate audit finalisation and accounts sign-off.

Manage client billing and collections.

Review operational performance metrics.

Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.

Support directors with strategic initiatives and business growth.



Essential Skills & Experience





Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or related field.

ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent qualified qualification preferred.

Minimum 7–10 years of experience in operations management, finance, or accounting practice management.

Strong understanding of bookkeeping, payroll, tax compliance, audits, and financial reporting.

Experience managing accounting firms or professional service businesses.

Excellent project management and organisational skills.

Strong leadership and people management experience.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, TaxCalc, Iris, or similar.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.



Preferred Experience

Practice management within an accounting or professional services firm.

UK accounting and tax compliance knowledge.

Client onboarding (AML/KYC/LOE).

Audit coordination.

Regulatory compliance (SRA, Companies House, HMRC, MCA).

Process improvement and automation.

Multi-entity financial management.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a proactive, commercially minded operations professional with strong accounting practice experience who can confidently oversee finance, compliance, people, and operations while driving efficiency and delivering exceptional service to clients. You will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, leading teams, and supporting directors in achieving strategic business goals.

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
