About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Production Head / Production Manager to lead and manage the entire production lifecycle of educational and publishing products. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and controlling all production-related activities to ensure timely delivery, optimum quality, and cost-effective operations.

The role requires strong expertise in publication production, printing processes, vendor management, paper procurement, quality assurance, and project execution. The candidate should possess excellent leadership skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with editorial, design, logistics, and vendor teams.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Execution

Plan, organize, and oversee end-to-end production activities for books, educational content, and printed materials.

Develop production schedules and timelines based on business requirements and delivery commitments.

Ensure smooth execution of multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining deadlines.

Monitor production progress and take corrective actions to avoid delays.

Printing & Publication Management

Manage complete book production processes including pre-press, printing, binding, finishing, packaging, and dispatch.

Coordinate with printing vendors to ensure adherence to quality standards and production timelines.

Evaluate printing specifications, paper quality, binding requirements, and finishing techniques.

Ensure all publication materials are produced according to approved standards and specifications.

Vendor & Supplier Management





Build and maintain strong relationships with printers, paper suppliers, binders, and production vendors.

Negotiate pricing, contracts, and production timelines to achieve cost efficiency.

Monitor vendor performance and ensure service quality.

Identify and onboard new vendors as per business requirements.

Quality Assurance

Implement and maintain quality control measures throughout the production cycle.

Conduct regular inspections of printed materials and finished products.

Ensure consistency in printing quality, color accuracy, paper standards, and binding quality.

Address production defects and initiate corrective actions.

Cost Control & Budget Management

Monitor production costs and ensure efficient utilization of resources.

Analyze production expenses and identify opportunities for cost optimization.

Maintain budgetary controls without compromising product quality.

Prepare cost estimates and production budgets for management review.

Inventory & Resource Management

Manage inventory levels of paper, printing materials, packaging materials, and finished products.

Ensure availability of production resources to avoid workflow disruptions.

Coordinate with procurement teams for timely sourcing of materials.

Maintain accurate production and inventory records.

Team Leadership & Coordination

Lead and supervise production teams to ensure operational efficiency.

Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.

Conduct regular team meetings and provide guidance on production objectives.

Foster a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.

Reporting & Documentation

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.

Track project status,



production output, and delivery schedules.

Maintain production documentation and vendor records.

Present production performance metrics to senior management.

Desired Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of book publishing and printing industry operations.

In-depth understanding of offset printing, digital printing, binding, finishing, and packaging processes.

Educational Qualification

Graduate or Post Graduate in any discipline.

Degree/Diploma in Printing Technology, Production Management, Operations Management, or related field will be an added advantage.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Minimum 3 years and maximum 8 years of relevant experience in publication production or printing operations.

Prior experience in Educational Publishing, Book Publishing, Printing Press, or Print Production industry.

Strong understanding of print production workflows and vendor coordination.

Proven track record of managing production schedules and achieving delivery targets.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail.

Self-motivated, organized, and capable of handling production challenges independently.
