POSITION 1 PURCHASE MANAGER (Ref: NDL-P01)

Own end-to-end procurement for engineered-to-order defence machines. Every build is custom, so this is not catalogue re-ordering it's sourcing to a fresh BoM against a tender deadline, every time. You sit between our design team and our vendor base, and the difference between a project delivered on time and a delayed one usually runs through this desk.

Sourcing & vendor development

- Source mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical components — pumps, valves, cylinders, actuators, motors, gearboxes, bearings, PLCs, sensors, transducers and instrumentation — against project BoMs with hard delivery dates
- Float enquiries, run comparative statements, and shortlist on the basis of technical compliance, delivery and price — not price alone; a non-compliant cheap part costs us the project
- Develop and manage the vendor base: fabrication and machining subcontractors, sheet-metal and job shops, component distributors, authorised dealers and stockists
- Identify and onboard new vendors — capability assessment, sample/trial orders, commercial terms, credit terms
- Maintain approved-vendor lists and rate contracts for repeat items, so recurring buys stop consuming project time

Costing & tender support

- Support bid costing: convert design BoMs into firm vendor quotes for tender BoQs, where your negotiation directly decides whether we win
- Turn budgetary quotes around fast during bid preparation — tender deadlines do not move
- Track price trends on key commodities and bought-outs so our costing stays realistic
- Flag long-lead items at bid stage, before they become delivery problems





Purchase execution & tracking

- Convert requisitions into POs with accurate technical descriptions, delivery schedules and commercial terms
- Track purchase-to-delivery on every project line — expediting, pre-dispatch inspection coordination, transport follow-up, GRN closure
- Chase and resolve short supply, rejections, replacements and rework with vendors
- Coordinate daily with design, production, stores and accounts — from BoM release to vendor payment
- Maintain purchase records, comparative statements and approvals audit-ready (DGAQA / ISO 9001 workplace)

Commercial

- Negotiate hard on price, payment terms and delivery — and document every commitment in writing
- Manage vendor payment follow-ups with accounts, keeping supply lines healthy
- Handle GST-compliant documentation and coordinate on statutory paperwork with the accounts team

Requirements

- Graduate — mandatory. B.Tech preferred
- 1–5 years in capital-equipment, machine-building, fabrication or engineering procurement
- Component-level technical literacy: you should read a BoM and know what you're buying
- Comfortable reading engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Working knowledge of Excel and ERP/Tally-based purchase entry
- Negotiation ability, follow-up discipline, and the temperament to chase a vendor five times without losing the relationship
- Defence / PSU exposure a strong plus
