Job Description

Leadership & Policy Development

- Safety Management System (SMS): Developing and implementing a comprehensive HSE (Health, Safety, and Setting) plan tailored to underground risks like tunneling and heavy lifting.

- Compliance Management: Ensuring the project strictly adheres to statutory requirements such as the BOCW (Building and Other Construction Workers) Act and specific Metro Rail Safety standards.

- KPI Setting: Establishing safety benchmarks and performance indicators for the entire project team and subcontractors.

? Underground & Technical Safety

- Tunneling Oversight: Monitoring safety protocols for Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM), including cutter head interventions and segment lifting.

- Atmospheric Monitoring: Managing systems for ventilation and gas detection (oxygen levels, methane, CO) to prevent asphyxiation or explosions in confined spaces.

- Structural Integrity:



Coordinating with engineers to monitor ground stability and the safety of temporary support structures (struts, walers, and rock bolts).

- Fire & Life Safety: Designing emergency evacuation plans specifically for deep shafts and long tunnel stretches where traditional exits are limited.

? Audits, Inspections & Training

- High-Risk Inspections: Conducting regular audits of heavy machinery, specialized underground lighting, and electrical systems to prevent fire hazards in damp environments.

- Specialized Training: Organizing safety inductions and specialized drills for Confined Space Entry, "Man-Lock" operations (if using slurry TBMs), and emergency rescue.

- Behavioral Safety: Promoting a "Zero Harm" culture among a diverse workforce of 7+ years of experience to ensure safety is prioritized over speed.

?? Incident Management & Reporting

- Investigation: Leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for any near-misses or accidents and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

- Reporting: Preparing detailed safety reports for project stakeholders and government regulatory bodies.

- Emergency Response: Acting as the primary coordinator with local fire departments and medical facilities for site-specific emergency drills.
