Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled VMC Setter cum Operator to set up, operate, and monitor Vertical Machining Center (VMC) machines for precision machining operations. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in machine setup, tooling, offset adjustments, and quality inspection while ensuring production targets and quality standards are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

- Set up VMC machines according to production requirements.
- Load and run CNC programs provided by the programming team.
- Install and align fixtures, jigs, and workholding devices.
- Select, install, and replace cutting tools as required.
- Set tool and work offsets and perform machine zero setting.
- Conduct first-piece inspection and make necessary offset corrections.
- Monitor machining operations to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets, and work instructions.
- Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments.
- Troubleshoot minor machine, tooling, and machining issues.
- Maintain machine cleanliness and perform routine preventive maintenance.
- Record production data and report quality or machine-related issues.
- Follow safety procedures, 5S practices, and company quality standards.

Required Skills




- Hands-on experience in VMC machine setup and operation.
- Knowledge of CNC controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or Haas.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T.;
- Knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, tool holders, and machining parameters.
- Familiarity with tool offsets, work offsets, and fixture setup.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments, including:
- Vernier Caliper
- Micrometer
- Height Gauge
- Bore Gauge
- Dial Indicator
- Thread Gauges
- Ability to identify and resolve basic machining and tooling issues.

Qualifications
- ITI, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification.
- 2–5 years of experience as a VMC Setter, VMC Operator, or CNC Machinist.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in automotive, aerospace, precision engineering, or general machine shop environments.
- Basic knowledge of CNC programming and editing programs at the machine.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and 5S practices.
