Specific Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of overall vehicle design and development processes.
- Good knowledge of packaging concepts.
- Proficiency in UG-NX modeling, NX tubing, NX Electrical.
- Expertise in NX CAD tool, especially surfacing.
- Understanding of A-Class surfacing and surface quality checks.
- Familiarity with body design standards and manufacturing feasibility.
- Knowledge of cockpit systems, center console, seating, and interior trims for concept creation.
- Understanding interior and exterior trims, tailgate mechanisms.
- Knowledge of exhaust system, fuel system, hydraulic lines, axles, towing mechanisms.
- Familiarity with cooling modules, HVAC systems, hydraulics, steering, suspension, front axle, engine peripherals, transmission, and engine mounts.
- Basic understanding of crash behavior and pedestrian protection.
- Basic knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicle architecture, including high-voltage battery, on-board charger, power electronics, charging socket, and e-motor.
- Knowledge of vehicle bill of materials, configurations, and engineering change workflows.
- Experience with PDM/PLM tools and virtual reality.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Understanding of vehicle ergonomics and Global Car Information Exchange (GCIE).
- Knowledge of vehicle regulations and homologation requirements.
Project Responsibilities:
- Create 3D CAD surface data from scan inputs, ensuring all requirements are accurately captured through expert consultations.
- Generate certification, homologation, GCIE, and other technical drawings.
- Evaluate and validate styling design models in compliance with GFK requirements and regulatory standards.
- Supervise, assess, and approve styling models during development phases.
- Support vehicle packaging throughout development and series production to meet objectives for styling, functionality, quality, legal compliance, and manufacturability.
- Benchmark relevant vehicle dimensions and specifications.
- Maintain continuous interaction with packaging engineers, styling teams, component engineers, and protoshop for part functionality and assembly sequence.
- Consult component engineers for missing geometries and commission adjustments as needed.
- Support DMU team in maintaining digital product integrity.
- Ensure accurate documentation of development progress in RD systems for master layouts, 3D Masolids, and master lists.
- Perform package checks and release assigned parts within defined timelines (max 10 days), documenting results in PDM (Approved”, “Declined”, “Approved with concerns”).
- Regularly review Bill of Materials for responsible carlines/platforms in PDM.
- Initiate and implement corrective measures for deviations from vehicle specifications, module strategies, or change requirements.
Contribute to concept development and vehicle requirement specifications.
