Job Summary

The Ward Boy / OT Assistant is responsible for assisting doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in providing secure, efficient, and compassionate patient care. The role includes preparing patients for treatment and surgery, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, transporting patients, and ensuring that the Operation Theatre and hospital wards are properly organized and equipped.

Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Ward Duties

- Assist patients with admission, discharge, and transfers.
- Transport patients safely between wards, OPD, OT, ICU, radiology, and laboratory.
- Help patients with mobility, wheelchairs, stretchers, and basic daily activities.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of patient rooms and surrounding areas.
- Change bed linens and prepare beds for new admissions.
- Assist nurses during patient care as directed.
- Deliver patient reports, medicines, and samples to relevant departments.
- Dispose of biomedical waste according to hospital protocols.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations.

Operation Theatre (OT) Duties

- Prepare the Operation Theatre before surgical procedures.
- Clean and disinfect OT before and after surgeries.
- Arrange and transport surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist in shifting patients to and from the Operation Theatre.




- Help maintain sterile conditions under the supervision of OT staff.
- Check availability of oxygen cylinders, suction machines, stretchers, and other equipment.
- Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and nurses during patient positioning.
- Handle biomedical waste and used linen as per infection control guidelines.
- Ensure all OT equipment is cleaned and stored properly after surgery.

- Basic knowledge of hospital procedures and infection control.
- Ability to safely handle and transport patients.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical fitness and stamina.
- Teamwork and willingness to work under pressure.
- Punctuality, discipline, and professionalism.
- Understanding of patient safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

- Minimum: 10th or 12th Pass.
- Preference for candidates with Ward Boy, Nursing Assistant, OT Assistant, or Hospital Attendant training/certificate.
- Prior hospital experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Working Conditions

- Rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, and move patients for extended periods.
- Compliance with hospital safety, infection control, and hygiene protocols.

Salary

As per hospital policy and experience.

Pay: From ₹10,635.80 per month
