About BIBA
BIBA is one of India's leading ethnic wear brands, known for blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary fashion. We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Textile Designer to develop innovative prints, patterns, and fabric concepts that align with BIBA's seasonal collections and brand identity.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop original textile prints, motifs, embroideries, and surface designs for women's ethnic wear collections.
- Research seasonal fashion trends, color forecasts, fabric innovations, and consumer preferences to create commercially successful designs.
- Create mood boards, concept boards, repeat patterns, placement prints, and colorways.
- Prepare artwork and production-ready files for digital, screen, rotary, and hand-block printing.
- Collaborate closely with Fashion Designers, Merchandisers, Product Development, and Sourcing teams throughout the design process.
- Coordinate with print vendors, mills, and embroidery suppliers for sampling and production approvals.
- Review strike-offs, lab dips, fabric samples, and embroidery swatches to ensure quality and design accuracy.
- Ensure all artwork meets production specifications and timelines.
- Maintain an organized digital library of artwork, motifs, color palettes, and seasonal collections.
- Stay updated on global and domestic textile trends, craft techniques, and sustainable textile innovations. (American Advertising Federation)
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of textile design, print development, color theory, and repeat creation.
- Excellent hand sketching and illustration skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and textile CAD software.
- Knowledge of digital printing, rotary printing, screen printing, embroidery, and fabric embellishment techniques.
- Strong sense of color, aesthetics, and commercial fashion trends.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven workplace.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, or a related discipline.
- 5–8 years of experience in textile/print design, preferably in women's ethnic wear or fashion retail.
- Experience working with apparel brands or textile manufacturers is preferred.
- A strong portfolio showcasing print development, textile artwork, and seasonal collections is mandatory. (American Advertising Federation)
Preferred Experience
- Experience in ethnic wear, Indian crafts, and traditional textile techniques.
- Knowledge of embroidery, hand-block printing, screen printing, digital printing, and fabric development.
- Exposure to vendor coordination and production approvals.
- Understanding of sustainable textiles and fabric sourcing.
