BITS Law School, Mumbai invites applications for the position of Research Analyst /
Senior Research Analyst to join the Centre for Research in Innovation Law for Shared
Prosperity (CRISP).
Location: BITS Law School, BITS Pilani Mumbai Campus
Contract Period: 31 January 2026 to 31 December 2026
1. Job Description and Key Requirements:
a) Undertake high-quality legal research culminating in law review articles in peer-
reviewed journals and shorter research outputs on topics including, but not limited to,
licensing of Standard Essential Patents (SEPs); evolving jurisprudence in
SEP/FRAND litigation in India and other jurisdictions; the open standardisation
system in the ICT industry; and legal, policy, and regulatory developments pertaining
to the ICT and telecom sector in India, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and
the United States.
b) Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of a Law & Policy Fellowship
Programme offered by BITS Law School for scholars and practitioners, including close
coordination with internal and external stakeholders, curriculum design, and
oversight of programme delivery.
c) Liaise closely with the faculty associated with the Centre and with relevant
departments of BITS Law School to ensure smooth execution of research and
academic initiatives.
d) Ensure the timely planning, coordination, execution, and submission of the
Standard Essential Patents (SEP) Course, including adherence to internal timelines,
preparation of academic and instructional materials, coordination with faculty
members and external contributors, and overall quality control of course deliverables.
e) Undertake any additional academic, research, coordination, or programme-related
work that may arise during the term of engagement, provided such work pertains to
the activities of the Centre for Technology Innovation & Law, including conferences,
courses, fellowships, research projects, and related institutional initiatives.
2. Offerings:

Law School on cutting-edge issues such as SEP licensing, FRAND litigation, standard
setting in telecom, and the interface between artificial intelligence, 6G, Internet of
Things, and intellectual property law.

c) Opportunities to jointly publish research work, strengthen academic and
qualified profiles, and engage with leading experts in academia, industry, and
policy circles in India and internationally.
d) Integration into the intellectual and research community of BITS Law School and

3. Required Qualifications:
a) A five-year or three-year LL.B. degree from a recognised law school with strong
academic performance.
b) Demonstrable evidence of strong academic research and legal writing skills in
relevant subject areas.
c) Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Preferred Attributes / Qualifications:
a) LL.M. or Master’s degree in Law, preferably with specialisation in technology law.
b) Familiarity with topics such as SEP licensing, FRAND litigation, standardisation,
telecom regulation, and technology law, demonstrated through coursework, research
projects, academic publications, or dissertations.
c) Two to five years of relevant work experience in legal academia, research roles, or
law practice.
