About Zavity Zavity is a Bangalore-based deep-tech aerospace startup building autonomous spacecraft platforms for space research missions. We are currently in the prototype development phase, designing experimental platforms and sample recovery systems to enable mission-oriented space experimentation. We operate with an engineering-first mindset and are assembling a small, high-ownership team to build flight-intent hardware from first principles.
Role Overview The Technical Associate Intern will provide hands-on support for the structural and thermal hardware development of Zavity's spacecraft platform. This is a hardware-focused role centered on CAD modelling support, prototype fabrication assistance, and testing - working closely with the engineering team to take components from design to build. This role is execution-focused rather than analysis-focused: the emphasis is on building, assembling, and testing real hardware, not on independently owning FEA, CFD, or thermal simulation work.
Key Responsibilities Assist with prototype fabrication - machining coordination, 3D printing, hand-tool work, and basic assembly
Set up structural and thermal test rigs, run tests, and log data
Prepare and organize engineering drawings, BOMs, and test documentation
Coordinate with vendors and workshops for parts fabrication and material sourcing
Maintain workshop/lab organization - tools, parts inventory, and consumables
Produce quick prototypes and mock-ups to support design iteration and review
Support senior engineers during design reviews and prototype build sprints Required Qualifications Pursuing or recently completed Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related engineering field
Working knowledge of CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred or equivalent)
Comfortable with hands-on work - hand tools, basic machining, assembly, and lab-based testing
Basic understanding of mechanics and materials
Willingness to work in a fast-paced startup environment Preferred Attributes Prior experience in a workshop, fabrication lab, robotics team, or maker space
Interest in space
Attention to detail and reliability in hands-on tasks
High commitment and a "get it built" problem-solving mindset Growth Opportunity High-performing interns may be considered for:
Extended internship
Transition into a design/analysis track (e.g., Mechanical Design & Analysis Engineer)
Full time Hardware / Build Associate position
Long-term growth within the founding engineering team Work Environment On-site in Bangalore
Early-stage startup environment
High ownership and responsibility
Direct mentorship from the founder and engineering team If you enjoy building real hardware - not just modelling it on screen - and want hands-on exposure to spacecraft systems from day one, we encourage you to apply.
