Must have

- 7+ years in software engineering with proven IoT project leadership

- Strong Python (or equivalent - Go, Node.js, Java)

- IoT communication protocols - hands-on with MQTT, plus working knowledge of at least two of:

AMQP, WebSockets, HTTP/REST, Modbus, LoRaWAN, Zigbee, BLE GATT

- Broker and messaging experience - Mosquitto, EMQX, HiveMQ or AWS IoT Core; QoS levels,

retained messages, last will and testament, topic design.

- Understanding of the hardware development lifecycle - knows what software must deliver at each

stage of HW life cycle.

- Device-to-cloud architecture: device provisioning, secure onboarding, OTA updates

- Security fundamentals for connected devices - TLS/mTLS, certificate management, secure credential

storage

- Comfortable working with firmware and hardware engineers - can read a schematic and debug at the

device level

Valuable to have

- Cloud IoT platforms: AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, Google Cloud IoT

- Message queues and streaming: Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis Streams

- Firmware exposure (C/C++, ESP32, STM32, Nordic)

- Time-series databases: InfluxDB, TimescaleDB

- Mobile app experience (iOS/Android)

- Edge computing / local gateway architectures
