Sr. Design Engineer – Mechanical (HVAC)

About the Role

Design energy-efficient HVAC systems for international projects while ensuring compliance with US codes, project standards, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop HVAC BIM models and design deliverables in accordance with project BIM standards and client requirements.
- Perform HVAC load calculations, duct sizing, ventilation calculations, ESP calculations, and equipment selection.
- Review HVAC BIM models for compliance with applicable US building codes, regional authority requirements, client standards, and project specifications prior to submission.
- Ensure Mechanical BIM models comply with ASHRAE, IMC, SMACNA, NFPA, ICC, and local authority requirements while maintaining engineering accuracy and constructability.
- Provide technical guidance and engineering support to the BIM team during model development, ensuring design intent, client requirements, and discipline-specific engineering standards are accurately incorporated into BIM models.
- Review BIM models periodically and guide the BIM team in resolving design-related issues, improving overall model health, constructability, and compliance with applicable codes, project standards, and client requirements.
- Coordinate HVAC designs with Architectural, Structural, Electrical, Plumbing,



and Fire Protection disciplines.
- Review shop drawings, BOQs, equipment schedules, specifications, and technical submittals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary coordination meetings and resolve design issues.
- Maintain project documentation within ACC/BIM 360.

What We're Looking For

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- 7–9 years of HVAC design experience on commercial, residential, healthcare, industrial, or data center projects.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)/BIM 360, and HAP, Trace 700, E20, or equivalent HVAC calculation software.
- Strong knowledge of US Mechanical codes, regional authority requirements, and industry standards with the ability to validate model compliance during design development.
- Solid understanding of HVAC design principles, multidisciplinary BIM workflows, engineering calculations, and construction documentation.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills with the ability to guide BIM teams and interact with clients.

Technical Expertise

- HVAC Load Calculations, Air Distribution, Duct Design, ESP Calculations, Equipment Selection, Ventilation, Smoke Management, Chilled Water & Condenser Water Systems.
- Working knowledge of ASHRAE, IMC, SMACNA, NFPA, ICC, and other relevant international and regional standards.
