Job title: System Engineer

Ownership and key responsibilities

System Engineer is responsible to lead, manage, coordinate and control all engineering-related activities in the project to deliver on requirements, budget and schedule, by implementing the applicable engineering Product Line processes.

Main missions The System Engineer shall:

- Ensure that all technical requirements and demands by the Customer as per contract are covered by the defined Engineering-Scope, i.e. to develop the engineering-related part of the WBS (Work Breakdown Structure)
- Generate the engineering input to the detailed project schedule
- Ensure that all tasks of the defined Engineering-Scope are clearly addressed to the responsible Domains, to coordinate the execution of engineering activities, including project design reviews, control against project time plan, budget and project requirements.
- Cooperate with other functions inside and outside the Project Core Team in cross-functional activities (i.e cost reduction review, risk and chance analysis)
- Provide the regular project reporting to the Project Manager in accordance with his scope of responsibility. Monitor and compile scope change and agree engineering budget with PM.
- Approve all concepts and specifications for use in the Project (such as calculations, safety analysis, System type test report).
- Analyze and report all changes to engineering project budget, schedule, requirements and deliverables and interface with Domains.
- Maintain and address the global project open item list concerning technical items. Perform a weekly review with domains to prioritize actions.
- Ensure every Product Line Domains provides engineering deliverables as required in the project.
- Advise the Project Manager in all technical matters and propose solutions.
- In collaboration with the Domains leaders,



define and ensure allocation of required resources and budget.
- Ensure that verification activities - such as design reviews are performed to the project plan
- Ensure that Verification & Validation is properly planned, performed and documented
- Ensure the integration of all products and sub-systems in the full system.
- Ensure that that the delivered product including subsystems perform as requested to fulfill the Customer requirement contracts.
- Ensure to achieve customer satisfaction with reliable product performance, quick response to customer feedbacks including potential complaints and provide appropriate solutions within the time limits.
- Support and address the interface problems or technical clarifications (e.g. with suppliers)
- Manage according to the project plan, the project product development plan with a focus on implementation, integration, verification. It shall cover all the products involved in the project, including software.
- Manage the customer gate reviews, ensuring a proper preparation for the engineering scope and a positive achievement of the milestone.
- Manage with the technical project team the related system validation process, ensuring the respect and the management of all homologation and certification requirements.
- System engineer can be appointed to customer project (from kick-off, project development, product delivery and commissioning, reliability growth monitoring period to warranty phase out),



tender phase or R&D; project where applicable.
- System engineer is liable to ensure maximum use of standard product and authorize new development with authorization of relevant stakeholder.
- System engineer shall work with project team to maintain or improve Total project cost as sold at bid.
- Provide return of experience to Product manager / Product owner for capitalization by releasing LLC (Lesson Learned Card)/updating the design rules.
- Depending on project phase / project scope, a system engineer can cover, perform and support some domains activities where applicable.
- Manages the Hot issues.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

- Mastery of computer tools (Word, Excel, MS Project).
- Comfortable writing system specifications, expert reports, technical definitions, maintenance plans....
- Working experience on Polarion tool for requirements management.
- English imperative
- Knowledge of railway standards with previous experience in Brakes systems
- Knowledge of systems and control aspects desired

Qualification / Requirement:

- General engineering / electronics / embedded computing background
- 3 to 5 years in the industry

Communication skills, interacting with stakeholders, cross functional teams interaction.
- Technical project manager, Requirements Management (Polarion/DOORS, MS Project), Documentation,
- System understanding (Brakes), Embedded/Electronics/Mechanical.
