I JOB DETAILS Job Title Staff Nurse-Operation Theatre Reporting to Nurse In-charge Nursing Supervisor II JOB PURPOSE To assist in delivering high quality nursing care at hospital III Key Responsibilities Responsible for the safe comfortable and comprehensive nursing care for all patients under her care Follow infection control policies and biomedical waste management guidelines To be well groomed punctual adhere to company policies and practices Carryout doctor s orders and instructions promptly and intelligently Make double checks before administering Narcotic drugs High alert medication and blood transfusions Make sure a second nurse is present while preparing and administering them Observe changes in patient s condition take necessary action report and record Take equipment and drug inventory on daily basis and maintain records accordingly Maintain positive interpersonal relationship with nurse administrators senior staff juniors and students Attend In-service education programmes in order to update knowledge and keep abreast of changes and trends in health and nursing care Keep principles of aseptic techniques in performing surgical scrub setting instruments gowning gloving as needed for the procedure Assist as a circulatory or scrub nurse Report any untoward reactions of patient to the surgeon or anesthesiologist Assess patients prior to surgery e g NPO status and alleviate their concerns Gather all supplies needed for the operation Assume responsibility of keeping the operating room sterilized Monitor patient s vital signs to detect anomalies Evaluate patient in postoperative phases Adhere to safety standards and precautions Assume duties within or out of the sterile field as assigned Provide surgical patients with perioperative care in recovery procedure and operating rooms Stock operating rooms with sterile surgical equipment linens and supplies Develop and implement nursing care plans for surgical patients Prepare patients for surgery by cleaning and disinfecting areas to be operated on Assist surgeons during surgical procedures Collaborate with surgical teams and other medical professionals on patient medication and post-surgery care Update patient files and medical records Assist with the ordering maintenance and safe storage of surgical equipment and supplies Provide patients with post-surgery care instructions and answering questions Organise patient transportation from the OT to the recovery room ICU Supervise all the postoperative activities to prepare the OT for the next scheduled or emergency operations Implement the hygiene sterilisation asepsis and disinfection protocols and procedures at all times before during and after operations to ensure the safety conditions of patients and staff Supervise and train the nurse aides and cleaners while in the OT following hospital infection control protocols Control all equipment and material stock used in the OT to ensure efficient and rational use of material resources Contribute to monthly reports according to guidelines statistical reports etc Apart from the above duties and responsibilities carry out any other duties assigned to her by the Nurse In-charge Nursing Supervisor IV KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS Surgical Safety Compliance 100 Documentation error 0 Compliance of hand hygiene and infection control practices 100 Adherence to patient care standards Reporting the Occupational Environmental Issues to HOD V JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Qualifications Diploma in GNM BSC in Nursing Post Basic B Sc M Sc in Nursing Experience 0- 5 years of experience Behavioural Skills The role required to do shift duties including night shifts and emergency duties on call as per monthly planned roster Language Skills English Hindi VI KEY INTERACTIONS Key Internal Contacts Key External Contacts ANS Nursing Supervisor Charge Nurse Team Leader Consultants Residents Nurse Educator Infection Control Nurse Dietician Biomedical Engineer Pharmacy Patients attendants Vendor Staff
