Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Microservices Development

Design and develop lightweight, high-performance microservices Implement REST/gRPC APIs for BOS and external integrations

Ensure clean separation of concerns and modular design

Build services that are environment-agnostic and easily deployable

1. IoT & MQTT Integration

Develop services to: o consume MQTT messages from devices o process and validate incoming data

Implement

o message parsing o retry mechanisms o fault tolerance

Handle

o intermittent connectivity o duplicate messages and out-of-order events
1. Data Processing & Storage

Handle high-volume IoT data ingestion Design efficient data handling logic for:

o real-time processing o batch processing (if required)

Work with PostgreSQL for





o data persistence o optimized queries

Ensure efficient disk and memory usage in constrained environments

1. Distributed System Implementation

Implement: o asynchronous communication o event-driven patterns

Handle

o concurrency o idempotency o eventual consistency

Work with self-hosted messaging systems (MQTT brokers, Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.)

1. Performance, Reliability & Scalability

Optimize services for: o high throughput o low latency

Identify and fix performance bottlenecks

Ensure services scale within fixed hardware limits (not infinite cloud scaling)

Build resilient services with

o retry strategies o circuit breakers (if applicable)

1. Deployment Awareness & Operability

Write services that are: o container-friendly (Docker)

o easy to configure via setting/config files

Understand

o service startup dependencies o configuration management

Support

o on-prem deployments and upgrades

Ensure services are

o easy to debug in real environments (logs, error handling)

1. Code Quality & Best Practices

Follow coding standards defined by architects Write clean, maintainable, testable code

Participate in

o code reviews o design discussions
1. Collaboration

Work closely with: o System Architect (for design clarity)

o DevOps (for deployment & release packaging)

1. Production Support

Troubleshoot production issues in customer/on-prem environments
