We are looking for an experienced SolidWorks Design Engineer with solid expertise in sheet metal design to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, modeling, and detailing sheet metal components and assemblies, ensuring manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop sheet metal parts and assemblies using SolidWorks (Sheet Metal module).
- Create 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs for fabrication and assembly.
- Apply proper bend allowances, K-factors, and flat pattern development for accurate manufacturing.
- Design enclosures, brackets, panels, chassis, and other fabricated components.
- Perform DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) reviews.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, quality, purchasing)
to resolve design issues.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, drawings, and revision control (ECN/ECR process).
- Work with vendors/fabricators to ensure design feasibility for laser cutting, bending, welding, and punching processes.
- Support prototype development and testing.
- Use GD&T; principles for tolerancing on manufacturing drawings.
- Optimize designs for cost reduction and material utilization (nesting, sheet layout).
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in SolidWorks, specifically Sheet Metal design
