: Solar Field Maintenance Engineer
Department: Solar Division

Travel Requirement: Frequent travel to multiple project sites
Job Summary
We are looking for a practical and dependable Solar Field Maintenance Engineer to manage the operation and maintenance of multiple solar energy projects. The candidate will be responsible for site inspections, preventive and breakdown maintenance, fault diagnosis, performance monitoring, contractor coordination, and timely resolution of site issues.
The role requires hands-on experience with solar PV systems, and the ability to independently manage several sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the operation and maintenance of multiple rooftop and/or ground-mounted solar PV projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections and preventive maintenance according to the maintenance schedule.
- Diagnose and resolve faults involving solar modules, inverters, junction boxes, AC/DC panels, cables, earthing, monitoring systems, and other electrical equipment.
- Attend breakdown calls and restore plant operation within the required turnaround time.
- Monitor daily energy generation and identify underperforming plants, strings, or equipment.
- Perform electrical testing using multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, and other diagnostic instruments.
- Coordinate module cleaning team, equipment servicing, and other site-maintenance activities.
- Supervise technicians, vendors, and contractors working at project sites.
- Maintain service reports, breakdown records,
preventive-maintenance checklists, equipment history, and site photographs.
- Coordinate with customers, project managers, equipment suppliers, and internal teams for issue resolution.
- Ensure the availability of tools, consumables, and critical spare parts.
- Verify compliance with electrical drawings, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly site-performance and maintenance reports.
- Support testing, commissioning, plant handover, and warranty-claim activities when required.
- Ensure safe working practices, including appropriate PPE, lockout/tagout procedures, and work-at-height precautions.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Approximately 2–5 years of field experience, preferably in solar PV operation and maintenance.
- Practical knowledge of rooftop and/or ground-mounted solar power systems.
- Understanding of DC and AC electrical systems, inverters, LT panels, protection systems, transformers, earthing, and monitoring platforms.
- Ability to read single-line diagrams, electrical drawings, equipment manuals, and technical datasheets.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple sites, priorities, and maintenance schedules independently.
- Willingness to travel frequently and attend emergency breakdowns when required.
- Valid driving licence and ability to operate a two-wheeler or four-wheeler preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, email, and maintenance-report preparation.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with thermography, insulation-resistance testing, string-current measurement, and IV-curve testing.
- Understanding of solar plant performance indicators, including PR, CUF, specific yield, availability, and generation loss.
- Basic knowledge of net metering, electrical safety regulations, and utility requirements.
- Valuable communication, customer-handling, team-supervision, and vendor-management skills.
