We're looking for an experienced Software Engineer (SDE3) to join our core engineering team. In this role, you'll design, build, and scale backend services and platform capabilities that power Astra's products. You'll work closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver high-quality software while contributing to architectural decisions and engineering best practices.

This is a hands-on role for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical problems, taking ownership of features end-to-end, and building systems that scale.

Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and platform components.
- Build reliable, secure, and high-performance production systems.
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to system design decisions.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
- Perform code reviews and mentor junior engineers through technical guidance.
- Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability, scalability, and performance.
- Improve engineering productivity through automation, testing, documentation,



and AI-assisted development tools.

Requirements :

- 6 - 8 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong programming skills with experience building backend applications.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, REST APIs, databases, and scalable system design.
- Experience designing and delivering production-grade software.
- Solid knowledge of software design principles, testing, debugging, and performance optimisation.
- Ability to independently own features from design through deployment.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, product-driven startup environment.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, React, or similar modern technology stacks.
- Experience building B2B SaaS or enterprise applications.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, or containerised deployments.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar.
- Prior experience in high-growth startup environments.
