Job Summary The Skilled Technician – Level II performs advanced technical activities supporting manufacturing operations through maintenance, troubleshooting,
repair, and continuous improvement of electrical, automation, robotics, and production systems. The role is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment while supporting production targets, quality standards, and operational excellence initiatives. Working with limited supervision, the technician applies specialized technical expertise in PLCs, robotics, control systems, industrial communication networks,
and predictive maintenance practices while coaching team members and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Equipment Reliability Perform preventive, predictive, corrective, breakdown, and emergency maintenance activities to maximize equipment availability and reliability.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, PLCs, industrial control systems, drives, motion control equipment, and automated manufacturing systems.
Diagnose faults in electrical circuits, relay logic, contactor circuits, and machine control systems.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring failures.
Support equipment uptime monitoring and downtime reduction initiatives. Automation, Robotics & Controls Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Siemens S7-1500 PLC-based automation systems using Siemens TIA Portal.
Perform PLC programming modifications, upgrades, and system improvements.
Support operation and maintenance of ABB, Yaskawa, FANUC robots, FANUC Cobots, and Universal Robots.
Maintain industrial communication networks including PROFINET, OPC UA, and TCP/IP.
Support integration of automation systems, machine connectivity, vision inspection systems, and manufacturing execution systems.
Equipment & Tool Management Maintain and troubleshoot production tools and testing equipment including torque tools, nut runners, and automated assembly equipment.
Perform inspections, calibration support, and functionality verification of manufacturing equipment.
Support spare parts planning, inventory management, and equipment lifecycle activities.
Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work environment.
Continuous
Improvement & Manufacturing Support Identify manufacturing constraints and support process improvement initiatives.
Participate in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Operational Excellence activities.
Provide recommendations for equipment upgrades, reliability improvements, and cost reduction opportunities.
Support production teams in achieving quality, safety, delivery, and productivity targets. Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Comply with all Cummins HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Apply Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), Job Safety Assessments (JSA), and electrical safety procedures.
Report hazards, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions promptly.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and promote a strong safety culture.
Minimize environmental impact through responsible work practices. Teamwork & Collaboration Collaborate with Production, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, IT, and Maintenance teams.
Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and service providers when required.
Coach, mentor, and support less experienced technicians.
