The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Technical Lead to take ownership of engineering delivery, team leadership and project execution across the organisation.

The role will lead a 13-member development team and work closely with stakeholders in Australia and the Philippines. The successful candidate will be accountable for translating business requirements into practical technical plans, guiding architecture and engineering decisions, and ensuring projects are delivered to the required quality, scope and timeline.

A key part of the role is leading our growing Conversational AI and AI Agent capability. This includes guiding the development and integration of production-ready chat assistants and AI agents,

establishing appropriate technical standards, and supporting the team as this service offering expands.

Key Responsibilities

 Lead and manage a 13-member engineering team, ensuring quality, accountability and timely delivery.

 Own end-to-end technical delivery, including planning, estimation, resourcing, execution, risk management and release.

 Lead the design and delivery of conversational AI, chat assistants and task-based AI agents,

from concept through to production.

 Guide architecture and engineering decisions across full-stack applications, APIs, integrations and AI solutions.

 Establish practical standards for AI development, including prompt design, RAG, testing,

monitoring, security, data privacy and responsible AI use.

 Translate business requirements into achievable technical plans and communicate clearly with stakeholders in India, the Philippines and Australia.

 Assign work, review critical code,



remove blockers and maintain engineering, testing and documentation standards.

 Mentor team members, manage performance and build the team’s technical and AI capabilities.

 Identify delivery and technical risks early, take corrective action and oversee production support.

 Provide clear delivery reporting and technical updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Technical Experience The candidate should have:

 Strong hands-on experience in full-stack software development.

 Proven experience designing and delivering web applications, APIs, databases and third-

party integrations.

 Practical experience developing conversational AI, generative AI or AI Agent solutions.

 Experience integrating large language models or AI platforms through APIs.

 Working knowledge of conversational design, prompt engineering, RAG, model evaluation and AI guardrails.

 Ability to review code, guide architecture and troubleshoot complex application and production issues.

 Experience with cloud platforms and up-to-date deployment practices.

 Working knowledge of CI/CD, source control, application monitoring, security and production support.

 Understanding of authentication, role-based access, data protection and secure application design.

 Ability to assess technical trade-offs and develop practical solutions without over-engineering.

Specific technology experience may vary, but familiarity with modern JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks, backend services, SQL or NoSQL databases and a major cloud platform would be beneficial.

Leadership and Delivery Experience

 Proven experience leading an engineering team and being accountable for its delivery.

 Strong capability in planning, estimation,



prioritisation and progress tracking.

 Experience managing multiple workstreams in a client-driven environment.

 Clear communication with technical teams, senior management and external stakeholders.

 Confidence to challenge unclear requirements, manage expectations and escalate risks when necessary.

 Experience working with distributed or international teams.

 Ability to balance hands-on technical involvement with leadership and delivery responsibilities.

Requirements

 7–10 years of software development experience, including at least 3 years in a Technical

Lead, Engineering Lead or similar role.

 Experience leading a team of developers; experience with a team of approximately 10 or more is preferred.

 Demonstrated ownership of projects from requirements through to production release.

 Practical exposure to conversational AI, AI agents or generative AI solutions.

 Willingness to work onsite in Chennai and collaborate across India, Philippines and Australian time zones.

 Strong written and spoken English.

Desirable Experience

 Experience delivering software for Australian or international clients.

 Familiarity with agile delivery tools such as Jira and Confluence.

 Experience with Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.

 Exposure to AI evaluation, guardrails, observability and usage-cost management.

 Experience supporting mobile applications, SaaS platforms or multi-tenant systems.
