We are looking for a highly skilled Senior SQL Developer with strong experience in Microsoft Azure or Snowflake to design, develop and optimize enterprise data solutions. Must have 4+ years as a SQL Developer, Data Engineer, or Data Warehouse Developer ,

The successful candidate will have excellent SQL development skills, a strong understanding of data warehousing and data modelling, and hands-on experience building cloud-based data pipelines and analytical platforms. The role involves working closely with data architects, engineers, analysts and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable and high-performing data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions and database objects.
- Must have 4+ years as a SQL Developer, Data Engineer, or Data Warehouse Developer
- Build and optimise data transformation processes for large-scale datasets.
- Develop data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics and related Azure services.
- Design and implement data solutions within Snowflake.
- Develop Snowflake tables, views, stored procedures, streams, tasks, stages and file formats.
- Create and maintain ETL and ELT workflows across Azure, Snowflake and source systems.
- Analyse and improve the performance of SQL queries, data pipelines and warehouse workloads.
- Design dimensional models, including star and snowflake schemas, fact tables and dimension tables.
- Implement data quality checks, validation rules, reconciliation processes and error-handling frameworks.
- Support data migration and modernisation programmes from on-premises platforms to Azure and Snowflake.




- Develop incremental loading, Change Data Capture and Slowly Changing Dimension solutions.
- Troubleshoot data issues, pipeline failures and performance bottlenecks.
- Work with business analysts and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Produce technical documentation, data mappings, source-to-target specifications and operational support guides.
- Participate in code reviews and promote SQL, Azure and Snowflake development best practices.
- Support production deployments, release management and incident resolution.

Essential Skills and Experience
- Strong commercial experience as a SQL Developer, Data Engineer or Data Warehouse Developer.

Advanced SQL development skills, including:
- Complex joins and subqueries
- Common Table Expressions
- Window functions
- Temporary tables
- Stored procedures and functions
- Query execution plans
- Indexing and partitioning
- Performance optimisation
- Transaction and error handling
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database or Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake data warehousing.
- Experience developing ETL and ELT solutions using Azure Data Factory.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modelling.
- Experience working with large datasets and high-volume data processing.

Knowledge of Snowflake architecture, including:
- Virtual warehouses
- Databases and schemas
- Micro-partitioning
- Clustering
- Time Travel
- Zero-Copy Cloning
- Streams and Tasks
- Snowpipe
- Internal and external stages




- Secure data sharing
- Experience with data loading from Azure Data Lake Storage, Blob Storage, APIs, flat files and relational databases.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Snowflake Experience

Candidates should demonstrate experience in:
- Developing scalable Snowflake data models
- Loading structured and semi-structured data
- Working with JSON, XML, Parquet and CSV formats
- Query and warehouse performance tuning
- Resource monitoring and cost optimisation
- Role-Based Access Control
- Data masking and row-level security
- Streams, Tasks and Snowpipe
- Time Travel and Zero-Copy Cloning
- Secure views and data sharing
- Integration between Snowflake and Azure services

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Relevant Microsoft Azure, SQL Server or Snowflake certifications would be advantageous.
