Senior Mechanical Design Engineer / Engineering Team Lead

Techmatix Engineering Private Limited is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who can take ownership of engineering projects and gradually lead our mechanical design team from our Nagapattinam office.

We provide customised machine and production-line design services for customers in the automotive, casting, industrial automation and manufacturing sectors.

This is not only a CAD-modelling position. The selected candidate will be expected to make engineering decisions, plan work, review designs, guide junior engineers and take responsibility for project delivery.

Key responsibilities

Take ownership of mechanical design projects from initial requirements through detailed design and drawing release.

Develop concepts, layouts, mechanisms, assemblies and manufacturing-ready designs.

Allocate tasks to junior engineers and monitor progress.

Review 3D models, drawings, bills of materials and engineering documentation.

Identify design risks, missing information, clashes and manufacturing concerns at an early stage.

Guide and train junior mechanical design engineers.

Coordinate with the Engineering Manager, customers and other project stakeholders.

Ensure projects are completed according to scope, quality requirements and agreed schedules.

Support manufacturing queries and resolve design-related issues.

Follow and help improve Techmatix engineering procedures, design standards, checklists and automation workflows.





Provide clear status updates and raise delays or risks before they affect delivery.

Required experience and skills

Diploma or BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering or a related discipline.

Approximately 5–8 years of relevant mechanical design experience.

Strong experience in machine design, SPMs, industrial automation, assembly systems, conveyors, fixtures, material handling or similar equipment.

Ability to design from concept rather than only model existing drawings.

Good understanding of fabrication, machining, bearings, shafts, gearboxes, linear motion components and pneumatic systems.

Solid experience preparing manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings and BOMs.

Experience reviewing the work of other engineers.

Previous experience guiding junior engineers or coordinating a small team.

Positive written and verbal communication.

Ability to take responsibility and work with limited day-to-day supervision.

CAD requirements

Autodesk Inventor experience is preferred.

Strong SolidWorks experience may also be considered if the candidate has good machine-design fundamentals and is willing to learn Inventor.

AutoCAD knowledge is useful.

Working hours: 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM

Salary: ₹30,000–₹45,000 per month, based on skills and experience

Probation: Six months
