Position : Senior Legal Executive
Department : Legal

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, proactive and business-oriented legal professional to join our Legal Department as an Senior Legal Executive. The role requires managing a wide spectrum of legal matters, including commercial contracting, litigation management, trademark protection, compliance, contract lifecycle management, negotiations, legal advisory, and legal operations across multiple business functions.
The ideal candidate should possess strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills and be capable of independently handling legal assignments while partnering with internal business teams, school managements, trusts, trustees, consultants, and external counsel.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Contracts & Transactions
Draft, review, vet, negotiate and finalize commercial agreements, including:
Master Service Agreements (MSAs)
Service Agreements
Leave & License Agreements
Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs)
Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)
Vendor Agreements
Consultancy Agreements
Construction and Infrastructure Agreements
Addendums, Amendments and Settlement Agreements
Term Sheets and Letters of Intent
Structure commercial transactions while identifying and mitigating legal risks.
Provide practical legal solutions aligned with business objectives.
Lead contractual negotiations with vendors, educational trusts, consultants, business partners, landlords, and other counterparties.
Negotiation & Business Advisory
Participate in commercial negotiations and strategic business discussions.
Advise business teams on contractual rights, obligations, liabilities, and risk allocation.
Provide legal support for new business initiatives and expansion projects.
Assist management in structuring commercially viable legal solutions.
Litigation & Dispute Management
Manage civil, commercial, consumer, labour, arbitration, regulatory, and criminal matters.
Coordinate with external advocates and law firms.
Prepare litigation strategies, case briefs, chronologies, evidence compilation, and legal documentation.
Draft and review legal notices, replies, demand notices, cease-and-desist notices, settlement communications, affidavits, undertakings, and other legal correspondence.
Monitor litigation timelines, hearings, filings, and compliance with court directions.
Trademark & Intellectual Property Management
Manage the organization's trademark portfolio.
Coordinate trademark searches, filings, renewals, oppositions, rectifications, and prosecution.
Liaise with trademark attorneys and the Trade Marks Registry.
Monitor potential infringement and recommend appropriate enforcement measures.
Advise internal stakeholders on brand protection and intellectual property matters.
Tender, Bid & RFP Documentation
Review and draft tender documents, Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Quotation (RFQs),
Expressions of Interest (EOIs), bid submissions, and procurement contracts.
Identify legal risks associated with bidding documents and commercial terms.
Support business teams during pre-bid and post-award contract negotiations.
Data Privacy & DPDP Compliance
Support implementation and monitoring of the Digital Personal Data Protection framework across the organization.
Review privacy notices, consent mechanisms, data processing agreements, and vendor privacy clauses.
Coordinate with business and technology teams to ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws.
Assist in privacy impact assessments, awareness initiatives, and implementation of internal privacy policies.
Regulatory Compliance & Permissions
Track statutory approvals, licenses, permissions, registrations, certifications, and renewals applicable to schools and corporate offices.
Maintain compliance trackers and monitor renewal timelines.
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely completion of regulatory requirements.
Assist in preparing documentation for inspections and regulatory authorities.
Liaison with Stakeholders
Act as the legal point of contact for schools, educational trusts, trustees, and internal business stakeholders.
Provide legal guidance on operational, contractual, compliance, and governance matters.
Coordinate execution of agreements and legal documentation with various educational institutions.
Facilitate resolution of legal and contractual issues in collaboration with management.
Litigation Management
Manage and maintain the organization's litigation management system and legal repository.
Maintain comprehensive records of all litigation, arbitration, consumer, labour, criminal, and regulatory matters.
Ensure timely updating of case status, hearing dates, next steps, and legal documentation within the litigation management tool.
Coordinate with external counsel to obtain case updates, pleadings, orders, and other case-related documents.
Maintain a centralized repository of notices, pleadings, evidence, judgments, legal opinions, and executed legal documents.
Track critical litigation timelines, statutory deadlines, limitation periods, and compliance with court orders.
Generate periodic litigation reports, dashboards, and management updates.
Drive continuous improvement in legal operations through effective use of litigation management tools and digital repository systems.
Compliance & Corporate Governance
Assist in developing, reviewing, and implementing legal policies, SOPs, and governance frameworks.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the organization.
Conduct legal risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies.
Support internal audits, compliance reviews, and governance initiatives.
Legal Research & Advisory
Conduct legal research on statutes, regulations, case laws, and judicial precedents.
Prepare legal opinions, advisory notes, presentations, and management reports.
Advise cross-functional teams on legal implications of business decisions.
Stay updated with changes in applicable laws impacting the education sector.
Team Collaboration
Mentor junior legal team members and review their work where required.
Coordinate with external counsel, consultants, government authorities, and business stakeholders.
Contribute to process improvements and legal automation initiatives.
Support the Legal Department in achieving organizational objectives and strategic projects.
Qualifications
LL.B. (3-year or 5-year course) from a recognized university.
Experience
3-5 years of relevant post-qualification experience in corporate legal, commercial contracts, litigation, or legal operations.
Experience in the education sector, corporate services, real estate, infrastructure, or service industries will be an advantage.
Desired Skills
Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
Strong understanding of contract law, civil law, commercial transactions, and dispute resolution.
Knowledge of trademark law and intellectual property protection.
Familiarity with procurement, tendering, and bid documentation.
Working knowledge of data privacy laws, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act.
Strong legal research and analytical capabilities.
Experience in contract lifecycle management (CLM) platforms, Litigation Management tools and digital legal repositories.
Ability to manage multiple high-priority matters simultaneously.
Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
High attention to detail and sound commercial judgment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and legal technology tools.
