Role Purpose

Develop, test and optimize recipes for VillPower's Havan Cups, Agarbatti, Dhoop and related pooja products - improving product performance and consistency while reducing material cost.

Key Responsibilities

1. Recipe Development & Optimization

- Develop and improve formulations for Havan Cups, Agarbatti, Dhoop Cones and other incense products.
- Optimize VillPower's cow dung-based recipes for binding, burning, fragrance, strength, drying and cost.
- Conduct structured trials, compare results and standardize successful recipes for repeat production.

2. Raw Materials & Cost Optimization

- Understand the role and behaviour of cow dung, wood and flower powders, joss, binders, resins, herbs, fillers, fragrances and other incense ingredients.
- Identify lower-cost substitutes and better ingredient proportions without compromising product quality or safety.
- Define basic raw-material specifications and support technical evaluation of supplier samples.
- Calculate formulation cost and recommend changes that improve yield and reduce wastage or rejection.

3. Product Performance & Troubleshooting

- Improve ignition, continuous burning, burn duration, smoke, ash, fragrance retention and product strength.




- Troubleshoot issues such as burn stoppage, excess smoke, weak fragrance, cracking, breakage or inconsistent output.
- Assess whether problems arise from the recipe, raw material, process, moisture or storage.

4. Trials, Scale-up & Documentation

- Conduct small-batch trials and validate recipes in actual production conditions at processing centres and village units.
- Prepare master formulation sheets, trial records, batch instructions and Bills of Material.
- Train production and quality teams whenever an approved recipe or process changes.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all proprietary recipes.

Candidate Profile

Essential Experience

3 to 5 years of hands-on formulation experience in Agarbatti, Dhoop, incense cones, Havan products or closely related products.

- Practical experience in developing or modifying recipesnot only routine quality testing.
- Knowledge of binders, combustible powders, resins, fragrances, moisture control and production scale-up.
- Comfortable working hands-on in laboratories, processing centres and village production environments.
