Role Overview :
As a Senior BigCommerce Developer, you will serve as the technical lead for complex e-commerce implementations, guiding projects from initial architecture to final deployment. You will collaborate closely with project managers, UI/UX designers, and client stakeholders to translate business requirements into high-quality, performant code.
Your work will directly influence the shopping experience for millions of users, ensuring that our clients' platforms are not only visually compelling but also technically optimized for speed, security, and seamless integration with third-party ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities :
- Architect and develop custom BigCommerce themes and applications to meet specific client business requirements and brand guidelines.
- Lead the integration of third-party APIs and middleware solutions to ensure seamless data flow between BigCommerce and external ERP, CRM, or PIM systems.
- Optimize storefront performance and site speed to improve conversion rates and user engagement for high-traffic e-commerce environments.
- Conduct thorough code reviews and mentor junior developers to maintain high standards of technical excellence and clean, maintainable codebases.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues during the development lifecycle to ensure timely project delivery and platform stability.
Required Skillset :
- Demonstrate deep expertise in the BigCommerce platform, including Stencil framework, Handlebars, and the BigCommerce API ecosystem.
- Possess advanced proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and contemporary frameworks like React or Vue.js.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving capabilities with the ability to architect scalable solutions for complex e-commerce challenges.
- Communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders to explain technical constraints and provide strategic recommendations.
- Thrive in a remote-first environment by managing time effectively, meeting deadlines independently, and participating actively in virtual team collaborations.
- Hold a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, supported by 7 - 10 years of professional experience in e-commerce development.
