Job title: SAP ILM Lead Workplace type: On-site Job location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India (or Bangalore, India) Role Summary: We are seeking an experienced SAP ILM (Information Lifecycle Management) / ILP Archiving Senior SME to lead data lifecycle, retention, and compliance strategies in large-scale SAP transformation, migration, and decommissioning programs. This role focuses on designing and implementing policy-driven archiving, retention, legal hold, and data destruction mechanisms, ensuring strict compliance with regulatory, audit, and data privacy requirements (e.G., GDPR). The candidate will play a critical role in data governance, system decommissioning, and audit readiness, working across business, legal, compliance, and technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

- SAP ILM Strategy & Implementation: Design and implement SAP ILM policies for data retention, legal hold, data residence, and destruction. Define and configure ILM objects, rules, policies, and retention warehouses.
- Archiving & Compliance-Driven Data Lifecycle: Extend traditional archiving (SARA) with ILM-enabled archiving. Configure and manage ILM Retention Policies and Residence vs Retention periods. Ensure compliance with GDPR, data privacy laws, and audit requirements.
- Legal Hold & Data Protection: Implement and manage legal hold scenarios to prevent deletion of sensitive or litigated data.



Support legal and compliance teams in data discovery and retention override controls.
- Retention Warehouse & Data Destruction: Configure and manage SAP ILM Retention Warehouse. Execute controlled and auditable data destruction processes;

validate data retentioncompletion and audit logs.

- System Decommissioning & Data Governance: Enable ILM-based selective data retention for decommissioning scenarios. Ensure legacy systems can be safely retired and support carve-outs or divestitures.
- Audit, Compliance & Governance: Provide audit-ready documentation and traceability. Support compliance reviews and internal/external audits while maintaining configuration documentation.
- Collaboration & Advisory: Partner with business, compliance, legal, BASIS, and archiving teams. Act as the SME for ILM adoption strategy and risk advisory.

Requirements

- 6+ years of experience in SAP ILM / Archiving implementation and strategy.
- Robust technical knowledge of SARA archiving, ILM objects, and Retention Warehouses.
- Deep understanding of GDPR and compliance-driven data lifecycles. Role Focus: This is not just a standard archiving role. We are specifically looking for an SAP ILM expert who understands data privacy governance, GDPR regulations, and how to safely execute legal holds and data destruction.
