SAP BTP Architect:
Assessment and Planning
- Conduct a Needs Assessment: Work with stakeholders to understand the business goals, challenges, and processes that BTP should address. Identify key pain points and potential quick wins to demonstrate early value.
Platform Strategy and Roadmap
- Define the BTP strategy and roadmap aligned with organizational goals and digital transformation initiatives.
- Prioritize BTP initiatives based on business impact, technology trends, and evolving user needs.
Solution Design and Architecture
- Design end-to-end solutions on SAP BTP, leveraging platform services such as database, integration, and AI capabilities.
- Ensure that architectural designs align with the organizations strategic goals and scalability needs.
- Create blueprints and high-level architecture diagrams that define the structure, functionality, and data flows.
Environment Setup and Configuration
- Evaluate the existing BTP Sub-Accounts and Environments: Evaluate existing sub-accounts, environments (such as Cloud Foundry or Kyma), and service entitlements to match organizational and project structures.
- Define Security and Compliance Standards: Configure identity and access management using SAP Identity Authentication Service (IAS) and ensure compliance with organizational security policies.
- Establish Initial Governance Policies: Define who has access to create and deploy applications, data governance standards, and guidelines for cost management.
Migration from SAP Neo Environment
- Develop and execute a migration strategy for applications currently running in the SAP Neo environment,
ensuring a smooth transition to SAP Cloud Foundry or Kyma as Neo reaches its sunset.
- Analyze and document existing Neo applications, assessing requirements for redeployment or re-architecture on Cloud Foundry or Kyma.
- Coordinate with development and business teams to mitigate risks, address compatibility issues, and plan for cutover activities.
Harnessing RISE with SAP (RAP) Framework
- Implement RESTful Application Programming (RAP) model for building cloud-ready extensions and integrations on SAP S/4HANA and BTP, emphasizing RAP’s modularity and reusability.
- Guide development teams in adopting RAP best practices, including the use of managed and unmanaged scenarios to optimize transaction processing and data consistency.
- Align RAP projects with the organization’s broader SAP RISE strategy, facilitating a smooth transition to cloud-native applications and scalable services.
Adopt Low-Code and RAP for Development
- Encourage Use of SAP Build for Rapid Prototyping: Leverage SAP Build’s low-code capabilities for quick wins, allowing business users to participate in app development and fostering collaboration between IT and business teams.
- Implement the RESTful Application Programming (RAP)
Model: Adopt RAP for building cloud-ready applications, allowing smooth extensions to SAP S/4HANA and preparing for future cloud-based customizations.
Creating a Future-Ready Digital Strategy
- Define a Digital Roadmap: Collaborate with stakeholders to establish a transparent digital transformation roadmap aligned with organizational goals, focusing on areas where BTP can add immediate value, like customer experience, operational efficiency, and innovation.
- Identify High-Impact Use Cases: Prioritize use cases that can drive transformation, such as real-time analytics, data-driven decision-making, intelligent automation, and enhanced customer engagement.
Data and Integration Strategy
- Develop a Data Strategy for BTP: Plan how data will be stored, managed, and accessed on BTP, particularly if the organization is using multiple databases (e.g., SAP HANA Cloud) or integrating with existing ERP data.
- Implement Best Practices for API Management: Define API governance, security, and monitoring standards, as BTP will likely become a central integration point.
Performance Optimization
- Monitor system performance, availability, and scalability on BTP, identifying areas for optimization.
- Tune services to improve the efficiency and reduce the operational costs of BTP applications.
Mentorship and Skill Development
- Provide guidance to development teams on best practices for building on BTP.
- Conduct training sessions to upskill teams on the latest BTP services and tools.
